I am interested. I still like playing PTW. I am in 2 PTW pbem games right now. I agree with your preferences.

We need 2 or 3 more players interested in a PTW epic game. Of the 2 PTW epic games I am in now, one has 3 players and the other has 4 players. They are both moving along at a good pace so we should limit this one to 5 players at the most.
I have joined some epic games in C3C with 8 human players because I was interested in playing with as many people as possible. The only problem is that it takes 10+ days per turn, and if the game stalls it can take over a week to find what happened and get it moving again.
Are there anymore PTW epic fans out there???

Still looking for 2 or 3 more people interested in a PTW epic game.

It looks like we have 4 players interested now. If we don't get another one by the weekend I suggest we go with 4 human and 4 AI.
If we are going with a huge map the AI will make things more interesting in the first part of the game.

I agree to that and I think 4 human and 4 AI should be an interesting constellation.
But as I wrote in a PN to bathsheba666 already we first have to test if my german version of PTW is compatible to yours. I remember that there were version-conflicts in the past but on the other hand I can play GOTM-files. So we just should make a little test.

I sent everyone a PM asking for their email and opinions on options.

I don't have Greybeard's email address.

I just emailed a test game to Karakurom for sending on to Yakodi, to test language problems.
(Sorry Yakodi, dont' know what GOTM means  )
I seemed to be able to run the game from Yakodi, but there was a mix of English and German used.....

I also emailed last entry on Player Registry (bedhead7), in case he is interested.

Does anyone want more than one settler to start?
(I assume I need to use CivEdit, which I've not done before, but I guess this is part of the fun - any hints welcome)
How many settlers should we have?

Do you want to choose, or a random civ?

For time zone reasons, I suggest the order is: Greybeard, Karakurom, Yakodi

Once we have the above info, and the result of the current test, I'll start it.

Sorry, I think Huge and four other players is a bit much for me to start out. I appreciate the invitation, though.

Seems like the problems I was thinking of don't exist (any more). And the mix of English and German language will only appear to me after starting the game with the English version.;)

I don't mind on the settings in common and the number of settlers.

Choosing I would like more than a random civ. Do you have any suggestions for a procedure of choosing?

And by the way: GOTM - just have a look at it.;)

Everyone send me a PM with your first, second, third, fourth choice of civ.

If no conflicts, fine.

If conflicts, I will:
(a) choose arrangement which maximises people getting their highest possible options
(b) where necessary, toss a coin for the other players
(c) if we get to (b) and conflict involves myself, I will defer to other players' choices.

I will then publish the PMs and my judgements, and you can accept or reject

BTW
I've drawn a blank on starting with more than one settler
(unless we have two settlers and no worker)
I've posted a question in the Creation forum, in case anyone else knows.

My choices for civs. are:
1 Mongols
2 Iroquois
3 Scandanavians
4 Russia

I will email you my address.
What level of barbarians are we going to have?

OK,

I think I have a scenario where everyone starts with 3 settlers and 2 workers.

I emailed everyone to share email addresses and ask for input on barbarians.
You could also add comments on settlers if you think it is too many.

One last point:
I've not kicked off one of these games before.
So if there is any recommended etiquette about what, how, or when I should or should not do regarding anything, please let me know before we start.

Looking forward to your input, and the game.

cheers

Everything sounds good to me so far.
Ready to start when everybody else is.:)

Sent to Greybeard

All settings are standard except what was already mentioned - and I went for 60% water.

Please send me your passwords after you've entered them, just in case.....

If I've screwed anything up, please let me know.

I've named the save file PTW_Alpha_001a.SAV.
Pleae change the a to b,c,d as you move, and I'll change the 001 for each year.

cheers,
:)

First turn played and sent to Karakorum.

The Mongols search for the site of their first city.

GreyBeard said:
The Mongols search for the site of their first city.

That sounds logical for a civilization of nomads.;)

The Iroquois are just doing the same.

and sent to bathsheba666

The Mongols have given up their nomadic life and have built their first city.
It is on a hill overlooking a river valley and a large herd of elephants. Dung for the camp fires, ivory for trade, and giant barbeques. :)
