Civ: Spain
Map size: Standard
Map type: random 'pelago
Difficulty: Demigod
Version: Rise and Rule 1.04 beta
Opponents: random
Barbs: roaming
Turns: 10 turns, 24 hr got it, 48 to play.

We are a very gullible, impulsive leader, whenever we hear of a new government type, we're itching to try it out. Apart from that, just a standard RAR game, should be interesting trying out the less used govts. Should also be good if people who haven't played RAR much want to learn more about it.

so far 50% of the roster hasn't played RAR, and 100% of the roster are confirmed idiots who have spent too long with Igor, so random weedage moves are expected and probably encouraged.

The rules: I've mostly played LK games, so the standard LK rules work for me. Rep is golden, etc. Please don't be needlessly defiant, unnecessary wars we aren't ready for can really hurt.

We will spend a minimum of 15 turns in each govt. We will immediately revolt if we have been in a govt for 15 or more turns and there is an unused govt available. We will use each govt only once.

Roster

Sanabas
Beorn-el-Feared
Zorn
MeteorPunch
Obormot

Don't you mean governments?

See, random weedage is infiltrating already. Yep, I meant govts, I suspect I've been reading too much Civ IV info. Fixed & Thanks.

I could give this one a go if it's no higher than demigod. The tech tree in RaR is quite bewildering - the main reason I haven't really attempted to play RaR yet. If there is Sanabas and maybe another experienced RaR'er that could tell us everything to research that would be cool...or boring to you guys. :p

Tibet or Ethiopia?

The version I have is RAR 1.04beta basic.

:salute:
RaR 1.04 pre-beta as well. I have finished my first RaR game: conquest loss in 2750BC on a farmer's gambit
And yes, the tech tree is big, so E or DG for me as well. Everything else, I'll just go with what you guys like.

Not a sign-up:

But how will you handle techs that give multiple govt's? (Alright, there's only one) Or that many of the govt's come in clusters (Republic/Democracy, Feud/Fundy/Theocracy, ConsMon/FedRep, Fascist/Communist). Should probably make a rule something along the lines of "must stay in government for 20 turns, then can revolt to next on the list".

Couldn't remember if there was a multiple tech, had a feeling there was. Theocracy/Fundy come at the same time I think? Hadn't thought much about how to handle it, that's what happens when I have 3 in the morning bright ideas. How about: we will stay in govt for a minimum of 20 turns, at the end of 20, if there is an available govt we haven't used, we must revolt to that one. If there are no available unused govts, we will revolt as soon as we have access to a new one. Each govt will only be used once, unless we've used all that are available and need to change to prevent WW or something similar. Not likely to happen, as by the time we've used all of them, we should probably be a soc dem and loving it.

Votes please: Emp or DG; and Aztecs, Ethiopia or Spain. I vote for DG and Spain.

I'll post a couple of starts tomorrow, and start with 4, 5 or 6 players, whatever we have by then.

Spain, DG if you can handle idiotic questions all the time, Emp if you'd rather just handle idiotic mistakes in the saved games ;)

And here's the first one: How do you handle the food since you cannot irrigate at 4000BC? Re-roll until you find a grassland start ?

That's pretty much what I was thinking...me trying to figure out what to research next in the middle of a turn will raise the difficulty to DocT. :p Gonna need some guidence.

well i just downloaded RAR and its kinda strange for me still...
BTW are you playing the 945 turn version or the regular 540 turn one. ill be lurking.

I've downloaded RAR recently, started a few games, but didn't finish any yet. It'd be fun to learn RAR in an SG, so sign me up if there is still an open slot. Currently i'm a bit short on time, but it's supposed to change after 25th, so put me somewhere at the end of the roster. I vote for DG, civ doesn't matter, since i didn't play RAR much and i don't have a preference.

lurker's comment:
This will be interesting to watch. However, with the level not being deity I have no interest in playing.

I must enter here and point out that Zorn has (to my knowledge) probably not been in contact with Igor enough to get the same kind of absurdly ignorant thoughts roaming his brain, taking a bite every once in a while and claiming a few minutes/game turns of total control from time to time.

I will also warn Zorn that well, we do have those gremlins roaming our upper cells.
