GOTM 45 provided a land-area to rival the real russia as players worked to grow the fledgling russians into a powerful civilization.

Despite the huge land area, Jason score were relatively low, and it was exclusively conquest and domination victories that dominated the top of the leaderboard, and as far down as number-11.

Durkz completed a conquest victory in 600 AD to seal the gold medal and fastest-conquest awards. In second place was MiniMe, also completing a conquest victory, but slightly slower in 690 A.D. GOTM Staff member Karasu showed that he hasn't lost his touch as his first entry in some time was good enough for him to pick-up the fastest domination victory and the bronze medal.

I was actually going for a low-score 20k, but I accidentally triggered the domination limit when knocking out Persia/Babylon's spaceships. I was a safe 34 tiles from the limit the turn before, but then THREE culture flips happened on the same interturn, and the resulting tiles gained(2 had over 100 culture) pushed me over. Instead, I almost came up with my first top-50 score.

I'm still 2 shields short though, and I don't really know if I'll ever get there.

Arrrr, congrats to Redbad, you've finally got your 20k!!! I knew you could do it :)
Congrats to Karasu, the only one with a better domination date. Couldn't you have posted a spoiler? I was in suspense for weeks! But I'm glad your victory was so decisive.
Special congrats to Durkz. You gotta be good to get two conquest awards and gold medals in a row. Nice achievement!

I'm very happy. Now I can concentrate fully on military action. :D

Congratulations everybody :goodjob:
Yet again I´m amazed by those fast Conquests! I´ll never be able to compete with you guys. And special thumbs up to EsatP, who built his spaceship a friggin´200 years before me!
Sad thing Cactus Pete didn´t submit, as he produced the highest QSC.

We´ll that was a short rush. Award is for Paperbeetle 100K in 1685AD, jason of 6352.
Congrats to you!

I thought PaperBeetle got the 100k medal?

Couldn't you reject the flips?

Congratulations all around

Special congratulations to Redbad for a very nice 20k date. It would be great to see a spoiler from you. :)

Condolences to Shigella for missing both the 20k award and the cow. But personally I'm glad you didn't win ;), it would have been awfully frustrating to be 2 turns from the award, even with a lazily played game where I didn't set out to win anything...

And finally, Durkz, you're the man. Now lead us to the laurels!

wow i am realy suprised by this score. i thought that i will be at 10+ because of the low jason. I was lucky that i got a leader early enough to get the second core running before other players. I grabed leos with a prebuild and i beelined to mil T. from thare i stoped reasearch and just did horse>cossack upgrade. That helped a lot as i was building 10+ horsmen per turn and had money to upgrade them all, so at the end i had 200+ cossacks the opnly problem was getting them were they were needed.

I cant  . I suck at anything than war. And because we play reaserch game i suck. im kinda like the Mil advisor in CivII. And since we will fight with MA weapons i suck with them too. Iv'e note used them in a loong time, i dont even know how the hely works.

Umm... I thought that with a 1390AD victory I would get the Diplo award. Was there something wrong with my submission?

don't worry, I think Nerovats' 100k is wrong too. paperbeetle should be the winner.

Oops, 20K award

Thanks Jove and Niklas (btw aren't you entitled to the 20K shield?) for the congrats. I'm finding myself now more or less in the same position as tao: the military VCs left with only the cow as a refuge for a domination that went slow.

I play nearly all the XOTMs and averaging about half of them with a spoiler. The recent COTM seemed more interesting as I challenged WetSawdustDemon in the pregame. And of course the dates were much faster. So I devoted a spoiler to that one.

In hindsight I would say that having a seasided 20K city (Colossus) helped a lot, despite it beeing on not such a shieldrich location. Furthermore for most of the game Persopolis was my capitol (tbw thanks to the X-man for lending it to me for free). So it had 2 productive cores for good research and GL-fishing.
And of course I must admit I had some practice at 20K the last half year or so.

To be honest: until now I didn't expect it to be a very good 20K date. And to be bluntly honest: 19th century 20K awards on Monarch :nono:

@Durkz
Congratz on your splendid conquest. Wouldn't it be time to practise building games (so builders can try military :D)

BTW:
I think Ainwood wasn't totally concentrated:
100K paperbeetle and not nerovats
diplo tone and not seraphinus
20K shield niklas and not spiffykeen7744

Congratulations everyone, great, indeed enormous, map.

I am afraid to say though that I am losing my appetite for finishing in the front row of the second rate, beaten soundly by a load of players who can't be bothered to write spoilers :p .

Yeah right. Who got the diplo award in the diety GotM43?

@Redbad: Too bad, I'll just have to settle for downloading your game and let CivAssist tell me the story. :) But I almost think it should be mandatory for award winners to post spoilers. :p
About the shield, I'm almost sorry you spotted that, it wasn't like I was trying to get it... ;)

@Xerol: How could you hope to get a low-scoring shield if you were that close to the domination limit? I kept to the area west of the mountain range for most of the game (or until IA anyway), so I was never anywhere close to that limit.
