Well, basically, I promised Odintheking to make some units for the Trade Federation. What i promised is, basically, the following:
  • Assault Droid: A battle-droid with a Heavy Missile Launcher, ID marks pale blue. Also carries a Laser Pistol and a Thermal Detonator.
  • Pilot Droid: Carries a Radiation Launcher, like a mortar, but throwing Radioactive shells (green) I´ll make a linear attack and a parabolical attack. Carries a Blaster Pistol and can repair ships, tanks etc. with his Laser Cutter or sth like that.
  • Assassin Droid: Carries a Sniper Blaster Rifle, has long range. Carries Thermal Detonators and a Blaster Pistol as well.
I´ll later post some previews.

Like the ones in Star Wars Battlefront?

I altered a pic I found on the internet and it looks good for a standard battledroid civpedia image.

Yup, like the ones in Battlefront, only in civ3flc format.
Where can i get that pic, for a start?
I haven´t played Battlefront on LAN for two weeks, I´m going mad

Well, I already made it, and it's for a regular battle droid.

battledroid.pcx is the large one, and battledroidsm.pcx is the small one.

The original picture is found here.

Well, those are very good enough, for a start.
I´ll do what I can as soon as I master one of those programs.

I used MS paint to make those. Took about an hour, just took the original image, cropped it, and shrank them to the desired porportions. Then for the small one, I painted the empty spaces white, but I didn't do it with the large one because it looks bad with the spaces.

I won´t use POV-Ray, at least, not yet. Dad is supposedly downloading DAZFreeStudio and OpenFX at work -he has broadband there, you see, while I poor wretch have a dial-up connection- so I´lll give it a try with one of those.
With POV-Ray I can only make basic shapes (cones, squares, spheres, boxes) but I have no clue as to texturizing. I need to read the remains of the tutorial.

Well, if you're going to use OpenFX, you can find some good models at SciFi 3d. I'm pretty sure they have a battle drois already there. All you would have to modify is the gun. Oh, you'll want to downoad it in 3DS format.

Thanks for the link. Igive it a try as well.

The link doesn´t seem to work... uh-oh, this doesn´t seem to be good... :frown:

Well... Dad´s just arrived... and he´s brought a CD with both installers... I´m trying it... He´s right behind me... I´m installing... let´s see what happens... it works!
Now to some experimenting.

Well, sorry for not posting yesterday, but Dad´s finishing his thesis and so he took over the computer from 8:30AM to 00:30PM, so I went to Playland, forked out $5 (arg currency) and spent two-and-a-half-hours blasting those ***holes of Clone troopers on-LAN, so, after a revitalizing dose of Battlefront, I´ll start work tonight.
@Chris:Thanks for the link. There are also tutorials there.

I think I´m gonna do it the hard way :wallbash: :smug: and do it by hand with CorelPhotoPaint6.

Are you telling me to learn how to use the SBB/FLICster? I´m not bragging, just that I pestered Steph with questions so much that, if I haven´t learned, I´m an ***hole. Besides, didn´t you check my sig for the munits I´ve already uploaded? I´ll upload some cavalry in a few days.
Also, Aluminium and I have resurrected the AOE conversion project, so he made some storyboards and I´m combining the Elephant Archer and the Armored Elephant to make an Armored Elephant Archer for my Hellenistic Times Scenario (again, check my sig).
Well, that´s it. Where´s the original battle droid anim files?

Thanks Odin! I´ve just downloaded it and, tonight, I´ll see what I can do.
Dad´s presenting his thesis tomorrow and is likely to win the whole of Heretic:Shadow of the Serpent Riders by Monday.
So I´ll have lotsa free time.
