Well, i'm sad because civ4 isn't working for me, and won't for a while. So I feel the need to start another civ3 SG. I don't know if anyone is still interested enough to join, but let's just see. I hope I won't be embarrased if nobody even posts here because of civ4.

Civ- Celts
Difficulty- Demigod
Landform- Continents
H20- 60%
Climate- Warm
Humidity- Wet
Age- 5 Billion
AI Agression- Most
Opponents- 7 random

I only wanted a river and a BG or two for a start, but on the 5th one I got this. Hey, I'll take it  .

I may roll another if this is true, for lack of fun.

Pre-turn- Move worker to cow and discover a third! What a shame that we’re in the middle of the continent, otherwise this start would be beautiful. Found Entremont and discover a fourth cow :crazyeye: . Start on warrior.

Turn 1- Worker irrigates cow.

Turn 5- Worker finishes, Entremont at size two, and builds a warrior. Start on settler. I hope we don’t have a near opponent, if we do we’re toast.

Turn 12- Finish settler, start on warrior. It looks like we may be on a small island :(.

Turn 16- Finish warrior, start on settler.

Turn 17- Wasted a worker turn, planned to mine the cow, but hit irrigate by accident :wallbash: . Life goes on…

Turn 19- Research bronze after lowing science a lot, and start on masonry (for prebuild and walls). Alesia finishes worker, starts on rax (worker will chop).

Turn 20- nothing

Looks like an average start to me

Think I could join ? :D

Got it, playing in 30 mins ;)

We have a potential of +15 fpt with 4 cows and 3 AGR river towns, but we won't be able to put them all together. So, this being AW, I say we mine the 2 remaining and work a 4-settler/warrior 2-worker setup, with the rest to put military up. This is just an idiot's opinion though, mind you. We'll need INFRA for this though (wink wink) :)

Techs: Masonry (traded in on IT7) >> WC

Entremont settler >> Granary (due) >> Worker(will be on growth)
Alesia Barracks >> spearman (couldn't manage to get 5 shields on first turn for a quick warrior, feel free to change even if the waste is more painful - we could need him)

I micro'd Entremont and Alesia carefully for gold (max) and shields (tried not to waste) but let a lot of food wasted at some points.

Founded Lugdunum: barracks

Met China on T7, traded Masonry+10g for CB, declared war. This might be the only way to lose on that start: early contact :(

I´d like to join. Won´t b able to play tonight though. Civ4 isn´t really working for me as well. Will give it a copuple more tries, but don´t like it this far.

This might be the only way to lose on that start: early contact

Their free units shouldn't get here for a while, and one spearman and warrior can handle it usually, we can send one from Entremont if necessary.

Thanks for joining, both of you :) .

Things to discuss:
-What cows should be irrigated and what cows should be mined?

-What of our three cities will pump settlers?

-What city will be the prebuild city?

-When should we research to lit and is math first a good idea?

Have to run so I don't have time to think about these.

With an early contact, I'm not sure if IW first is wise: it's a gamble for a ressource anyways, especially here, now. I thought WC was natural because we need something with offensive value, def bombard being a plus. China will have archers already so we'll be better off with cats if they cover them, thus I'd say go for it.

Alesia looks good for a prebuild to me, it's just got to have a city or 2 to take the frontline instead - else we'll need to pre-build in Lugdunum.

If we can settle a bit more (read if china is easily thwarted, or thwarted at all) I'd say pump settlers from entremont (a 4-turner is luxury in AW games, so let's take advantage of it while we can and pray for the best when we'll need units out of it too).

Yup, sounds good.

SF could be in Lugdunum, as it won´t grow over 6 anyway, could grow other cities. Entremont as prebuild. Finish granary->settler->pre-build. Alisia military. Lugunum will get 2 cows, 1 irrigated 1 mined, mine the plains to act as forrest.
Is 2NW of Alisia on the river? then settle there. That way 3 cities can share the 2 cows in west. What´s the palm trees, a recourse or just alternative grafics?
Not sure about research, math is nice, but so would swords.

I've never used a capital as a prebuild, but not a bad idea. What would the prebuild be? A wonder? What if it gets built? If we're using a wonder probably we don't want to detour to math or swords then.

I made a stupid mistake, Alesia should have been one NW so there can be unit exchanges between it and Entremont  .

Do you want to play now nerovats?

We need 2 more roaded tiles and then exchanges will be possible, Own. As for the wonder prebuilds, pyramids shouldn't get built in a handful of turns, so IMO it's safe enough.

Lugundum as SF as it won´t grow over 6 anyway.
Might still be better to get Alisia as pre-build palace is saver, that way we could get an ocasional settler or worker form entremont, as that already almost has a granary.
Will play tonight (waited a bit in hope of more players).
Think we need couple of spears first then archers?

I'm always a fan of offensive units, so I'd say 1 or 2 spears then all out archers. Archers vs archers will be more efficient than spears vs archers when they come in.

pre-turn
Count the shields but Lugdunum needs a BG for a 4 turner, keep it in entremont, alisia as pre-build after spear

Looks good, and to say the least, better. I've started playing Own7a as a SP non-AW and we were so dead, boys.

Gots it.
