**NOTES: Nguni Empire

Many of you will note the similarities between this and CivArmy's Zulu civ. I was fortunate enough to work with CivArmy on his mod, supplying the city names and biographic entries. As per his standards, he included only 1 leader (Shaka) along with a 3D leaderhead. Jecrell later wored with him and cahnged the name back to Zulu from Nguni.

I wanted to release my version for a number of reasons - one was to preserve the Nguni name for historical reasons. Given the city list and the bios, I felt that the Nguni - as a broader, more dynamic people - should be represented together. I also wanted to expand the leader list to include two important figures in the history of the people - Cetshwayo and Nelson Mandela. No doubt many people will take exception to the inclusion of Mandela here. Mandela is of Xhosian decent, making him a representation of the "other side" of the Nguni. Additionally, while he was preseident of RSA, his impact - historically and socially - was far more relevant to the Nguni population of the region - a people who suffered under decades of apartheid. As with anything, it's a judgement call. Some will support it, others won't. To disable Mandela as a choice, open "Civ4CivilizationInfo.xml", find 'Nguni -->Leader-->'LEADER_MANDELA' and change 'bLeaderAvailability' from 1 to 0.

Out of Africa 1.1

Screenshot note: The Nguni flag is actually brown with yellow trim. I took this cap before I made the correction.

looks good but id of thought that the zulus would have there own civ:confused:

This looks like a very great mod! Excellent work!

I like how the UUs are darkskinned to resemble the Africans they represent. However, it will look kind of funny with each civ having 1 "black" unit with the rest being various shades of "white." I know it would be alot of work, but it would be cool if you could reskin the existing game units available to all to keep it consistant!

Either way, I'de like to try this mod out :)

If you disable Mandela as a leader and change the name to Zulu, there won't be too much different. The cities won't *all* line up to Zulu cities, but most will.

Great job Wyz_sub10! This must have taken a lot of work and effort - very nicely done!

Thank you. :)

I think the most involving part of doing civs like these is getting the right information for leaders, units, etc. Some histories are far better documented than others.

Hey Guys it is good to meet other Nubian's within this forum. I am usually over at TAM; sometimes I am scrolling through CivArmy's posts. Pi-Ankhi used to be a big contributer over at TAM, but we lost contact with him about 3 years ago. We had started a project tentavely named "TAM: Ancient Africa" for Civ III. Thamis over at TAM was doing some preliminary coding, while Pi-Ankhi and myself were providing the civ's and the history. We had sub-divided the continent into North, South, East and West Africa; we also included traditional Asiatic civs such as Israel, Babylon, the Hittites, the Nabateans (e.g. Arabs), etc. Unfortunately it was located within another forum and I do not know at present whether any of our posts still exist. Hopefully within the near future this type of project could be resurrected! As two of the top ten Khemetian (Egyptian) Pharoahs in terms of their impact upon civilization; we thought it was out duty to revive the Glory that was Africa.:king: :king: :king:

Impressive, ill give it a go when yemen and somalia come out.
