2006 CivFanatics Fantasy Baseball League

It's that time of year again. The grass is cut, new mitts are broken in, hot dogs & peanuts start sounding like a good combination, the weather starts to warm up. Its Baseball season! Time for the dog days of summer, and some good old fashioned stickball. What better way to celebrate than with our own CFC fantasy league. This league will be run using Yahoo's service, which is fantastic because you can have teams in multipule leagues. It will be a point based system. meaning that, each stat is afforded a certain mumber of points, and all those points add up over the course of the season. The team with the most points at the end of the season wins.

If you're having problems with the password, it should be thunderfall, with a lower case t.

EDIT: I've registered as the Bytown Lumber Kings. I received an e-mail from Yahoo saying the league is Autodraft, meaning that the players are selected for you. Is that going to remain that way? I'd prefer to draft my team...

no, what you do is you select a draft line up prior to the draft, and then it will automaticaly select your team for you based on the list you make and what place you get dealt in the draft. This is good, because then we don't have to be all online at once to make the draft. It also comes with a default list so that if you are too lazy to make you own, then you will still get a team.

in order for a draft like that to work, we would all have to be online at the same time. That just isn't feasable with such a global comunity at CFC. this is the best solution, you can rank certain players higher than others. For example, if I really want sammy sosa, thenyou would rank him number one on you list. plus, it's really exciting to see who you ended up with, and how many of your top choices you got. If all else fails, then you can still trade.

Not that hard to get people organised for a live draft. Most people will be in similar time zones, those that aren't may well be nocturnal anyway (i.e. me). People who can't make it can still pre-rank things if they want and have the same excitement as the auto-draft would give them. We managed a live draft with no problems for a 16-team CFC NFL league, should be able to do it for a 20-team MLB league.
