Simple question: Will the expansion pack affect the GOTM, or will the GOTM continue to be played with "vanilla" CIV?

Even that effort required extensive mods and some compromises to suppress PtW features, and the versions still play a little differently when you hit extreme situations.DaveMcW said:

I think it should be mandatory that you have the Warlords expansion to participate in the GOTM starting with GOTM 9. The admins are already a good 10 weeks behind on the release of GOTM results, either someone is going to have to start geting paid to do the job or we are going to have to pay for the expansion. I know for my part after the expansion comes out I won't be playing nilla Civ any longer, I suppose this will be the case with many of the GOTM participants. It's either pay someone to release the results or pay for Warlords, personally I don't think it's to much to ask to go out and get the expansion to compete in the GOTM.

We will catch-up with results - and the aim is to then maintain release of results within 2 weeks of the event closing. We've just had a few issues (across a number of GOTMs) to sort-out.

Also, Warlords will need patching before it's perfect, so no need to rush into it at GoTM9 when we already have Civ4 v1.61 to play.
Plus, we all know that the current delay in posting results is just a temporary blip and it's really due to Ainwood's involvement (and now exhaustion) from the Warlords betatesting

Boot Camp is free. Win XP isn't, and neither is the Intel Mac that's required to run it. If you already have the Mac version of Civ4 then buying the Windows version is another expense.
And the hardest thing of all is having to reboot each time you want to play. I want to be in Mac OS X, not XP or Vista. That's why I bought a Mac. One lousy game doesn't change that for me.
