SGOTM 11 - Zulus vs The World.

It's 4000 BC. You are Shaka, Supreme Ruler of ... umm ... a settler, a scout and a worker. You are militaristic and expansionist by nature, which is just as well :p. You are on a Gyathaar-special, standard size map, but it's a bit crowded because there are 13 rivals, and they have already grouped into several locked-alliance power blocks leaving the Zulu nation out in the cold. Your mission will be to achieve world domination to show them who's the real boss.

Oh, and by the way, Domination is defined as at least 75% land plus 75% population :D

Since you all made such a good job of the last game, this one will also be played at Emperor level, in Civ3 Conquests only. The winners will be the succession team that reaches a Domination Victory by the earliest game date. All victory conditions are enabled.

The information required to place you in a suitable team is as follows:-

1. Which level (regent, monarch, etc.) are you comfortable playing in a solo game?
2. Are you new to SGOTM?
3. Do you have any preferences as to which team you join?

The game will start on September 9th. Thanks again to Gyathaar for the concept and map.

Here's the start.

Map Parameters
Playable Civ - Zulu
Difficulty - Emperor
Opponents - 13: America, Arabia, China, Egypt, England, France, Germany, India, Japan, Korea, Ottomans, Russia, Scandinavia.
World - Standard, Continents, 60% water, 4 billion years old, temperate
Barbarians - Roaming

The map is handbuilt, and therefore may not have a standard configuration.

Game mods:
The game uses the default rules as defined in the SGOTM Reference Thread, with the following modifications:

- Domination requires 75% of world territory and 75% of world population.

The SGOTM Mediterranean resources are included, as you can see from the starting screenshot. If you have played previous SGOTMs then you will be ready. Other players will need to download and unzip a small graphics mod pack linked in the Reference thread.

Please visit the following links to ensure that you are adequately prepared, skipping references to PtW or Vanilla versions of Civ3.

Notes:

A. ONLY Conquests version 1.22 (C3C) is supported for this SGOTM. All teams will compete for a single award set:
The Crimson Laurels:
redlaurel11.gif
... and the Wooden Spoons
woodenspoon11.gif

B. All teams must play the sponsored variant - the laurels will be awarded for the fastest Domination victory.

C. All saved game files uploaded to the server are parsed through software that extracts and archives data about your save, including reload count for each turn set.

D. Spoiler information will absolutely NOT be tolerated in this thread.

So let's see how many teams we can muster this time.

Yea another SGOTM

but...

Is this a left over from last SGOTM?

i have to withdraw my aplication because i just tried to instal c3c and i found out that the cd is corupted :(

Looks like fun. Are the locked alliances all against us, making it AWE? Or do we have scope for diplomacy, and playing the blocs against each other? Either way, I'm definitely in.

1. Deity/Sid depending how you define comfortable
2. No
3. Not really.

@sanabas: They are locked Mutual Protection Pacts. If you declare war or peace with one civ it applies to all their allies.

@Andronicus: Thx. Yet again I have to remind myself - copy/paste/EDIT!

@Confusion: Welcome :wavey: Sorry to hear about your CD. Have you tried cleaning it?

1.for a random map I can win Monarchy more than 8 times every 10 games under gotm rules.(i think sgotm rules are same to gotm).
if use mapfinder, I can handle to win deity 2-3 times every 10 games.(half of them quickly abandoned).
2.absolutely new to SGOTM.
3.any.

sorry for edit this:
I accept a project for 4 months, and I will have not full time to play, but I still like to participate in which I like sgotm this kind of idea.
so I modified my skill to Regent, that is, while I can't play full time, I can still provide Regent-quality behavior in limited time for civ-play.
if this is out of sgotm rule, don't let me sign in.
if sign in,I will follow common good manner and will not leave in half-court.(does it is a bad manner if leaving in half court?)
thanks.

1.Regent.
2.absolutely new to SGOTM.
3.any team.

By the way, the image on the front page is messed up. This time, I know I'll have internet access (as opposed to assuming I'll have the same summer job as the previous year).

Is it possible to see these Mutual pacts from the beginning in the Diplo screen or does this need some IA Tech so we will have to wait and see who declares on us when we start a war?

You can see alliance relations in diplo screen from the start (after you meet the civs ofcourse). It has a seperate checkbox/line type

I can play, but I'm moving that weekend and following week and my broadband connectivity might be... flaky.

1. Emperor
2. No
3. Idiots/Cats&Dogs/TheUsualLot

1. dg/deityish
2. No
3. I have a pm in to some old warhorses. Sanabas, Sir Bugsy and Scoutsout if they're not commited yet. Bede and JB are in so far.

1. Comfy? - emperor I guess, though I can win deity and lose monarch :p
2. Been here before, a few times.
3. I don't think there's much left of the old Peanuts, so I guess I'm free.
Would be cool to play with civ_steve still, he said he'd be joining.

1. Emperor (tho I just won on Demigawd)
2. I've done this before
3. Team Tao, if they're back

edit: rules questions--can galleys enter ocean, or are they prohibited, as was in last game? Is differential naval movement on?
