Noble01: The One They're Afraid to Start

Okay, here's an SG i'm starting, but not playing in.

Why would i do this? B/c over the past week there have been several folks interested in playing in an SG, but don't have the cajones to start one themselves

So I'll do it for them. [Mods: delete this if i've overstepped my bounds . . .]

Leader: Random
Opponents: 6 Random
Difficulty: Noble
Map: Fractal
Size: Normal
Speed: Epic

Well, i know LlamaCat is in, so he's the Captain. Sign-up now, and i'll post a start for you lazy bastids tonight.

Why not "Prince" level? We all agree we can beat 1 level higher of an SG than in a normal game...

Look, all those people are whining about "how come there are no noble SGs" :cry:

I just started the thread to help them out, i couldn't care less what happens from here

Ok sounds good but why aren't you playing pholk? We need good players here too!! And Prince level is fine with me if that's the consensus

Ok fine, I'll sign up as the advisor/fix the game(tm) player. I'll sign up as fifth spot.

I can start and manage the game too.

Can this game be in Vanilla though. I'm sure the last thing new players want is all the Warlords additions. We can get used to Vanilla first then incorporate the Warlords stuff later on the next game (if any).

Here are my extra proposals for game settings:
Difficulty: Noble or Prince, roster vote
Leader: Not random, we don't want to be stuck with a difficult to play leader like Isabella or Cyrus. A spiritual leader would be good at this stage. I'd pick Montezuma (because Aggressive) or Saladin (because Philosophical).

Financial (or even Industrious) is great, but I don't think the strategy of building "riverside cottages" (or the occasional wonder) will be alien to even new players. It may be better to study up on city specialization or early warring and pick one or two wonders they need instead of collecting them.

But then again, any newer players should be reading Sullla's Introduction to Civ game.

So let's get this game on people! Why do we need so many people, let's start if there are at least 3-4 of us ready, then others can join if they come around by the time our turns are over. I am fine with all the suggested settings, etc...

re: different viewing: no...just click on "last post" on the main SG page...that little arrow with the person's name above it to the right...

also, you (or Robo) may want to post int eh Registration thread, advertising for Nobles and Newbs alike!!

I would actually suggest someone else (well anyone else) to try and learn different tactics and strategies than the "quecha rush". Play around with different attributes. Hatty (creative/spiritual, good early UU) might be a good one.

I think playing noble for you Robo will be overkill and for most of us regular SG players. I am gain for playing but would like to see new players take advantage of this SG that pholk started. I agree Sprite Pholk rules. Haven't had the courage yet to join on one of his SG's. Makes my brain hurt.

I know Noble is overkill for me. But there will be four Noble players if ever this SG gets going and one volunteer to advise/fix the game will be fine.

if you'll have me, i'd like to sign up.
I always win on noble (haven't tried Prince yet), thus going up one level would be fine with me.

I'm quite busy right now and may often need the full 48h, but when to start SGing, if not now? :lol:
