I'm using CivGold (Warlords version) with no big problems. I had to perform some feats in BBEdit on certain files, just as with the vanilla version.

I'm also still using BlueMarble.

I had problems with Ethnically Diverse Units on Warlords, but I didn't try very hard and am sure I did something wrong when installing it. I think someone else said they got it working.

It takes a bit of doing. I downloaded the 2.2 version, collated the files in the "Assets_Warlords" folder into the "Assets" folder.
Then I downloaded the 2.35 version, copied the files in the v2.35 "Assets" into the v2.2 "Assets", and then copied the files from the 2.35 "Assets_Warlords" into the v2.2 "Assets" folder.
Then I dragged the "Ethnically Diverse Units" folder into the folder Civilzation IV/ Warlords/ Mods.
That should make it work.

I also got the CivGold3 mod to work. First the file itself is compressed in some unusual format that is supposed to compress better. I don't know why people run stuff that is supposed to work better instead of just going with the more popular zip. But anyway, you can get an app to expand it here:

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/19139

Then there are some files that don't work with the Mac version. I went through those in BBEdit and ran Zap Gremlins. I don't really know what that does, but it worked. There is still one file that it complains about when it loads, but I haven't seen any bad effects from that yet. Here are the massaged files:

I installed Better Ship Scale Basic - Warlords v1.0 and, so far, it seems to be working great.

Blue Marble is also installed and hasn't been problematic.

Here is a corrected version of the last complaining file in the CIV Gold 3 mod. It goes in CIV Gold 3\Assets\XML\Civilizations and replaces a file in there.

Thanks a lot for sharing these files : I didn't tried yet but already replaced the files

I "zap gremlins" with the files of another mod I'd like to play : nextlevel mod and I passed the usual "xml errors" when launching but unfortunatly, all the texts of the game were gone ... and missing. Same thing with another mod : Amra's ALH Modpack v180

I was a bit surprised about Amra's files because I use his Amra's Tibet without any problem ( on a macintel macbookpro )

Which option do you use in BBedit when "zap gremlins" ?

- delete ?
- replace with code ?
- replace with . ?

Once again : thanks

The files that fail may only need a valid XML header line at the top.

Each XML file should start with a line like:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>

If this line, or one like it, is not included then just edit it into the file and try again.

If this doesn't fix the problem for a file then you can use BBEdit/TextWrangler to Zap Gremlins. When I do it I do it one of two ways:

- Use Delete, which should work straight away

- Replace with • first, then search the file for • and put a valid character in place of each instance.

The files that I have up there now I just replaced the gremlins with nothing. Now that I have a better idea what I am doing I will go back and redo them correctly, the way AlanH says.

In the leaderhead file I replaced:

<ATTITUDE_FURIOUS >

with:

<ATTITUDE_FURIOUS>

so I know that was done correctly.

Thanks for your answers

I followed your advices but still in problems with CivGold ... Still looking for

Anyway, some good news : I successed to make the mod : firstpeople 1.4 working in Civ4 vanilla. I changed as Allan says the header ( utf to iso ) and zap gremlins on 2 or 3 files ... The mod is working after you pass the error message on GameTextInfos_FirstPeoples.xml when launching the game.

But there is still a problem : the new leaders names and nation are something like : TXT_KEY_LEADER_IROQUOIS

1) it's ugly in the game
2) too long strings so you can't see how these leaders are towards you

If someone knows what to do ...
Here are these files ( xml files ) ... I know they are not perfect but they are playable

The attached files below are updated with corrected GameTextInfos_FirstPeoples.xml file ... Leaders names are ok now
Attached Files
File Type: zip XML.zip (118.6 KB, 50 views)

The error on that file means it doesn'tt load. So when the game tries to translate TXT_KEY_LEADER_IROQUOIS into a real leader name it can't. because it doesn't have that data. You have to fix GameTextInfos_FirstPeoples.xml so that it will load.

I did it and replace with : z and now the mod is loading ok and the all leaders names are ok too. Thanks ! And now I'm going to update the files I attached in my previous post.

once again : thanks !

not sure if this is the right place to ask but, is there a HOF mod for warlords? I use the vanilla HOF mod exclusively now and I was just curious if one exists or is in the works for warlords. thanks.

It's on its way. I've been trying to fix the issues people had with the Apple installer I used for the vanilla one, where their Civ4 directory is not in the default location that I configured. Ether I'm missing something, or the Apple installer is really not very clever. I've noticed even Aspyr fall foul of it. If you confuse their Warlords installer by copying your Civ4 vanilla installation and then trashing the copy, it creates a brand new Civ4 folder in a new folder called something like "Games Folder", at the top level of your boot drive, containing just the Warlords stuff plus a copy of the Civ4 application.

So I've been trying to adapt my Drag and Drop Mod Installer to do the business instead ... in between fighting the long honey-do list that seems to appear at this time of year

i know what you mean about the installer. I keep all my games on a separate volume and it NEVER works right. to update something I always have to move everything to applications, run the installer then move everything.
