RevB (Warlords) and RevC (Vanilla) available

Both installers indicate they fix sound issues from the previous versions. No other fixes or changes are mentioned.

I've only tested the Civ4 vanilla Rev C patch. It runs OK (Mac Pro) and there may be more sounds now, though I've never really taken much notice of the sounds before.

If you go to the Aspyr site and hunt down the patches that they do have you end up with the latest patch. It says RevB for Civ and RevA for Warlords, but you end up at MacGameFiles getting RevC and RevB.

First-class operation, huh?

There seem to be a number of negative comments on macgamefiles, but I'm not quite sure how to take some of them. I've downloaded, but I might wait until after I finish this GOTM to update. I play with the sound off, anyway.

[LATER EDIT] I noticed the reviews are related to dissatisfaction with the earlier patches. I guess I'll jump in.

The only difference I see is that music now plays when zoomed out farther. Aside from that I haven't noticed anything.
(In RevC Vanilla, I don't have Warlords to check)

As I've mentioned before, I play with sounds off, so this patch didn't really affect me (I usually have iTunes on in the background). But the Vanilla game wasn't affected by any new bugs or problems that I could detect in a few hours.

I guess, in the spirit of community, I'm going to be forced to play a Warlords game now. Sigh. ;)

hey does ot fix the one problem were the terrain and map get all messed up?

The only bug fix mentioned in the release notes is the sound problems from the previous patch. It looks as though all other bugs/features remain. For example, I see there are reports that the latest patches still crash on MacBooks, and therefore appear not to be compatible with Intel Integrated Graphics.

Silly question: Does one need to have applied the previous (flawed) patches before applying the latest ones in order for everything to work properly?

I never applied the flawed patches because, well, they were flawed. The sizes on these newest patches suggest that it's not necessary to have applied the flawed patches.

And if it's required to have the flawed patches applied before applying the newest ones, where can I find the older ones? Macgamefiles only links to the newest patches.

Aspyr's patches will update any previous version. So, no, you don't have to apply them in sequence.

One thing that I've noticed in Warlords RevB is that when a great person is born it says the city and the leader, instead of just their first initials. I mainly play at night when my toddler son is asleep not too far away, so I never have the sound up very high, so I don't really know if it has improved. It seemed to work pretty well on my 24" iMac anyway.

Vanilla RevC still crashing on my MBP. I don't notice any sound differences, but I didn't notice any problems with RevB. For me this patch is a non-event.

Major graphics issues on my iMac G5 with 5200U. Never had them before, but then I never grabbed anything past the first 1.61. System log files say "graphics chip error" every now and then.
