During the latest turnchat, Julius Caesar declared war on Bismarck. He has taken Munich, and it now looks like the war is sizzling out. I moved a scout through the area, and he didn't see any large stacks there. It might be worth it for us to continue building troops, and attack Bismarck from the south, while he's being whacked by Julius in the west. We can probably take most of his weakly defended cities there. Hopefully, we can even capture the Pyramids in Berlin, a very valuable prize.

We are already the biggest player on our continent, and if we :assimilate: Bismarck, we'll be unstoppable for Julius Caesar. A disadvantage for attacking Bismarck is that he might have longbows. Macemen should be able to take them on though.

Looks like a nice little continential warfare going on. :D

Now if we could just find the other civs, and drag them into it, making it a World War!

I would take him out, we may not get another chance at this!

I'm a little cautious to start another war immediately we're losing 12 gold a turn at 40% research, if we fight too much the civs on the other continent will have no problem dispatching us no matter how large we are.

First, take out France, keep or raze all its cities.

After think about Germans and Romans.

Best regards,

Definetly don't declare war on Bismarck or Ceasar until we have regrouped our units close to German/Roman territory. Without insulting anyone we should aim for a "Blitzkrieg" approach now that we have a standing + promoted army.

Also it will give us more time to recover from the french war!

Indeed, I had quite some warmongering fun during my turnchat

Who's "Him"? We should definetly take Napoleon out, but that discussion should probably happen in the other thread I made.

I suggest you take a look at some of the great games Aelf played (LINK). He has won several times on Immortal and Emperor on a continents map, with a strategy that included conquering your own continent before the civs on the other continent can interfere. You then cottage spam the heck out of your continent, and win by sheer size.

We shouldn't just think about it, we should continue building troops (we haven't got that much useful to build in most cities anyway), regroup as soon as possible, and attack them.

Promoted keshiks and maces  Germany won't know what happens when THEY get Blitzed.

Spoiler :
I  multiquotes

I was talking about bismarck, dutchfire. :)

If we're going to attack somebody I'd say it should be ceasar, yes Germany has a lot of land, but ceasar is the agressor here and if we assist him he will take more German cities. If we assist Bismark, who was un-prepared for this war there is less of a chance of him taking Roman cities. Also the size of Germany won't matter at the end of the war because we would be so much larger.

I would have to concur with this sentiment. However, I would probably wait until the AI comes along and asks for us to join the war. An easy way to pick up some diplo points.

As far as Rome vs Germany, I think Grant has made a well-reasoned argument. However, I'd recommend allying with Rome. JC usually makes a good long-term friend. In fact, I cannot recall ever getting a :backstab: from JC.

Until we back-stab them. If we decide to jump into this war, it will be a given that we eventually go after both of them. And we already hurt Bismark's feeling by saying no to his request to stop trading with Julius. Or maybe it was the other way around. Either way, when I look at their two lands I just see places for our people to live.

I believe we should remain Hawkish (including building some new Military) and be prepared to go to war if the situation is appropriate.

I don't know. I don't think it is a given at all. Neither Rome nor Germany is a threat at the moment. Especially Rome since they have no metals.

The threat is the civ (or civs) on the other continent that just built the Great Library and Notre Dame.

I would probably partner up with Rome, at least until Caravels are in the water. Once all of the civs have been met, then a better decision can be made on who should be friends and who would be foes.

I believe with Currency, and other economic techs, our economy will start to improve. Civ4 Economics isn't my strong point (I've built tons of cottages (matured all the way up to towns) before with no result. :p), just like me with real life economics, despite having played/tested this game for 3+ years.

Having 5 catapults go up against a city, along with macemen, and other units is insanely powerful! Is Rome running around with Legions? We should send our melee promoted macemen to the frontlines if we go to war with them.

Which civ is losing? I'd say, if we try the cottage gambit, ally ourselves with the losing civ, and declare war on the winning civ. That way, the stronger civ stalls out, we take their city, and the weaker civ is easy pickings. Plus, we'll have a monopoly on the continent.

We should also get caravels to be the first to circumnavigate the globe.

I'm feeling more and more positive towards attacking Rome. I'll see if I can make some war plans today. I'm thinking about getting the troops in position on the Roman border during the next turnchat, ending it when we're basically ready to attack, and then possibly attack, if the situation looks good enough to get support of the citizens, as soon as the second turnchat. We could be in Rome this month. And believe me, Rome is a beautiful city :D

Let's just hope we aren't getting too confident and cocky out there, and that we have enough productive cities...

Just watch these Roman units......

Be ready for them if we choose to war with Caesar. 2 horse archers can easily pillage our improvements.

Edit: Does it work?

I had seen them already.
And the picture works

Spearmen have been positioned on the south coast.

We're ready to go to war with Rome now.

In other news, Rome captured Hamburg in the north.
