Notes (mod and changes)
Spoiler :
* Historical note:

Don't expect too much from it: apart from a very nice map and a few historical events, it's just a plain scenario. I was a civ4 n00b at the time when I made it, and I had short time and no additional graphics. It can't compare with RFC or RoC. In fact, that mod was nothing but a way for Firaxis to test and improve modding tools (which it did. If there are minor civs in civ4, it's thanks to Greek World).
* All civs are contactable, can build Settlers, and (except us) are at Noble.
* The scripted city flips that simulate historical wars are disabled. To compensate, Rome, Macedonia, and Persia have extra hatred for their neighbors and traditional enemies, and the starting wars are different:
....... Rome on Phoenicia, Etruria, and Greek Colonies
....... Macedonia on Greek City-States and Greek Colonies
....... Babylon on Phoenicia and Judah
....... Phoenicia on Egypt
....... Scythia on Macedonia
* To run the mod, copy your Greek World mod folder to Hezekiah Greek World, and replace Hezekiah Greek World\Assets\Python\GreekWorld.py and Hezekiah Greek World\Assets\XML\Civilizations\CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml with the versions in this zip file. The zip file also has the start save.
Notes (strategy and map spoilers)
Spoiler :
* Please check out the map in Worldbuilder before we start, but not after.
* Egypt's preset attitude adjustment toward Judah is -10 and Babylon's is -20. These are on a smaller scale than the numbers in the diplomacy screen.
* Yerushalayim becomes the Christian holy city and gets free missionaries in 40 AD, even if Christianity has already been founded elsewhere.
* Scripted barb spawns run for 55 turns starting in 0 AD, including stacks of Horse Archers in the Middle East and stacks of Camel Archers (strength 8) in Africa and Arabia.
* Cultural victory should be easiest since culture growth is very fast relative to research, we get two free religions, and cathedrals don't require temples. I'd rather we not go Cultural unless there's a consensus that either the game is too hard, or that we want to finish up quickly.
* We have a good shot at the Great Library.
* We might be able to flip the Phoenician capital Sur.

Somewhat interested, but 30 turns each sounds awfully much. Is this on marathon speed?

The default and only built-in setting for Greek World is that research costs are basically quintupled. I'm not certain how the other costs are scaled. So yeah, it's inherently a very slow game.

wow Immortal difficulty? I can just handle Monarch. If it was easier i'd play. Also you may want to add a link to the mod.

Did someone say bump?? :mischief:

I'm guessing that at Immortal this is as hard as a solo game at Monarch to Emperor. The ridiculous, no-food start city is part of it. On the other hand you have super-Marathon speed, knowledge of the map, free double holy city, etc. I think it's an interesting combination (and uses a mod I love.) I might be up for it at a different difficulty setting if that's where the interest is.

The Greek World mod comes with Vanilla civ. The first spoiler in the first post has instructions and a link for a couple files containing the changes for this game.

It's in the too hard basket for me and I wouldn't qualify if you dropped it a level. It did however get me interested enough to check the scenario which I had never done before. It's quite an interesting one.

I've been waiting for others to jump in because this would be an interesting game to follow. maybe people don't want a long game so close to BTS.
