Are you there?. A new PBEM match

Fine!.
Yes, BtS.

Would you like if we wait for someone else?...i think five players would be perfect...

Settings?...

· BtS. Build 3001
· Map: Hemispheres (2 continents) standard size
· Civs:

Shaka Zulu
Peter Russia
Suleiman Ottomans
Willem van Oranje Dutch
Hannibal Carthage

But if you like another settings, feel free to propose them.

RFC 3000BC would be fine too. I loved it.

tech trading off or on?
Huts off or on?
Events?
I prefer everything on, but Tech Trading off!

Then, do we have to choose between these 5 leaders?

OK, master
:)

everything on, but Tech Trading off!
, right.

is my first game on this website...

would you mind setting up and launch the initial turn of the play?...

three players a a couple of IA civ's will be good, isn't it?..

This would be my first PBEM game, but I love to play.

I play Prince regularlly

I'm flexible for whatever Civ is available. (Prefer Philo trait if open)

Sarge85:
Starting a PBEM is very easy. In the option Multiplayer – Email games one can set the conditions, the players and create the game.

The difficulty is the speed of playing and keeping up the game. Usually there are not more that six players. I am in one PBEM with 4 players and we do 3 -4 turns per week, and other of 6 players and we do 4-5. In this last one we are at the beginning and the spirit is high, so everybody plays fast, but we'll see in future. With a good rate of 4 turns/week a game of 400 turns can last 100 weeks = 2 years!! I don't have experience in long games with humans, but i'm afraid they don't last so much. For what i've read they usually finish in domination or conquest.

Agree with this. I had bad experience wit hnewbies on this forum, they offten play with pace in the beggining, and then slow down and eventually quit. Dn't know the reason why, probably they aren't interested in the game at all..
Funny thing is that this game can be the most entertaining ever if you play it with speed.

The frecuency about playing turns of the game it is a very important issue, i agree.

We are 5 players now, i suposse every user that have posted on this thread is interested on it. So, maybe, we could try fix the question setting up the turns/week frecuency.

Giraflorens said 4 turns/week average it will be minimum rate.

¿It could be a little more?...If not, we would fix this rate to avoid a never-ending game.

Anyway, is it posible prevent that one user leaves the game....having protected her turn with a password?..

Everyone has to set his own password, so if someone leaves the game, we can't know his pass, only if he said that.
4turns/week is OK speed, but if set our turn order correclty, it can be much more.
Also, 5 players is nice numeber...

That sounds like something I can do.

What about the game mechanics itself? -

would a smaller map, and shorter game speed keep the game moving and keep the interest level higher?

Sarge:gp:

For 5 players small map is OK, if e wait for 6 players, standard will be better.
Non tech trading, i think normal speed is good, no need for quick...

i think 5 players is enough, and we can have small map.

i'd like everything on, and tech trade only for techs researched. if we take off trading we cut the diplomacy of the game. also, i would like to reassure that everybody is going to play during one year at least

i'd like everything on, and tech trade only for techs researched.

Like I said, I'm new - so I'm not sure I understand this part here. Does this mean if I trade Tech A for Tech B - I wouldn't be able to re-trade Tech B to another Civ since I didn't research it myself?

Sarge:gp:

i agree with Giraflorens. I think trade off it is so strong to deploy a minimum of diplomacy. But i could accept, anyway, trade off.

So... we are already five players, aren´t we?

Sarge:gp:

It means that you can trade Tech A only if you did researched. Once you traded Tech B (from other player) you can not trade this tech (cause you obtained by trade, not by research).

In configuration of the game there are two options for tech trading. I don't know the name in English, cause i have Civ in Spanish. One of the options don't allow tech trading at all. The second option allow tech trading only if researched. I vote for this second one.

And i'm not sure we are five. Josgalo didn't appear more.

I delete this last sentence!!! Perdon Josgalo! I also have ver 3.17 BTS
