It's time for our second tank pack, brought to you by me and the lovely Blitzkrieg game series. In today's pack, you will find:

previewj.jpg

1) MBT-70. An experimental joint US-German MBT that never saw combat, but was the forerunner of design ideas later implemented in M1A1 and Leopard 2. Excellent if you need a "generic" MBT. Uses modern armor anims, has civcolor.

2) Elefant/Ferdinand Panzerjäger (sorry, the picture says otherwise). A heavy German WW2 tank destroyer. Probably the best tank destroyer of the war. Uses panzer anims.

3) T-70. Late WW2 Soviet light tank. Uses tank anims.

4) M24 (Chaffee). Late WW2 and Korean War US light tank. Uses tank anims.

All buttons included. Grab'em here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=12433

Great, I especially like the Elefant! Thanks!:goodjob:

BTW, I'll keep giving you 5 stars for these conversions (which you certainly deserve) until you'll have pity on poor myself and convert some artillery...:please:;)

Told ya, not doing requests on this one. :D

But anyway, I need some artillery myself. Could you formulate which guns would be better as artillery units for Germany, Soviets and US? One gun each.

Now we're talkin'! ;) (actually, I thought you might need some for TR, that's why I didn't understand ... )

Anyway, I'm not 100%, but the vanilla arty is something like this, no? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M114_155_mm_howitzer
or
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1937_Howitzer

So, we could use sg like:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/105_mm_Howitzer_M2

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/21_cm_Mörser_16

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10.5_cm_leFH_18

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1938_Howitzer

etc.

Personally I'd really like to see a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schwerer_Gustav as a super-arty, but that's just me...

Thanks for the input. I believe 155mm Soviet gun was separately made already by someone here on CFC.

I think I'll convert 105 mm howitzer for US, 21 cm Morser for Germany and 122 mm howitzer for USSR. That is, some day... ;)

:hmm: one moment...these units are from other games, but they use civ4 animations...
So i think, you've transplanted the skeleton from the civ4 tanks into this tanks?
Is this difficult?

Moderately so. The trick here was to get the units exported in parts (tracks, turret, gun etc) so each part can be rigged to an appropriate animation node. It is a bit tedious, but it works well.

I'm almost certain they are too high-poly anyway. And no, the same technique wouldn't work with anything vaguely humanoid - the thing with tanks is, they are basically made of boxes, and boxes are easy to join together.

Nice pack, wish there would be some troop transports coming :D

Yes, I know you do not take requests ;)

You mean like these?

Coast Artillery Fortress with 38cm L/52 Cannon

Maximum Health Points: 10000

Armor value:
All sides: 500

Crew: 4 men
Ammo: 200 rounds
Range: 630
Penetration: 500
Damage: 430

For that purpose, there are trucks and halftracks there. I don't plan on converting halftracks anytime soon, but if you're interested in trucks, I can post some.

I like both, prefer halftracks myself, but both are certainly welcome. "Not any time soon" sounds good to me, I can bide my time :D
