After I read Ekmek's tutorial I decided to try and make those leaderheads I needed for the game. I'm also sharing them with you, if you want them! Have fun!

Feel free to use them as whoever you want if you think they might work as somebody else!

Yeah, the texturing isn't great, but the design on some of these really is quite good. I especially like the alteration of the Kublai's beard, the turban on the goateed Tokugawa, and the Aztecized Agueybana. Very nice start.

I may have to get up the guts to give this whole thing a shot myself (though my computer has no texturing programs and can't handle the full features of existing leaderheads - no hat thingy on Shaka).

Imho the crown of Brian Boru could be a bit bigger.

Ill try playing with it some more and see how it looks better. I believe there will be a second version of Brian Boru if I'll find a better position and size for the crown.

Congrats on the LH Gallery! texturing i think is tougher than Lh making. Look how many texture guys we lost (pencilgod, mourndraken, amra, etc)

I've been using clone brush alot and other LH textures to get some decent results. still more work than making the model IMO.

by the way buildings and units are far easier than LH but I figure if you can master LHs then no reason to explain the easy stuff.

I like that you made Itzcoatl, and he looks good. Seems the non-European civs always get the sort end of the stick, especially the New World civs, so it's always great to see more.

I'd like to change the background to something other than Chichen Itza, since it's actually Mayan and in case I want to use him as a leader for some other civ. I seem to remember that changing leaderhead backgrounds isn't terribly hard to do, but I can't recall how it's done for the life of me. Any advice?

The background Itzcoatl uses is Montezuma's Colonization background, so I doubt it is Chichen Itza. To change the background open it in any program that can edit .dds files and paste your new background over it. Then go to Nifskope and see if it need adjusting, if it does- adjust it.

Awesome, thanks. I will probably use this method to swap backgrounds between existing leaders, so Nifskope probably won't even be necessary.

I thought it was Chichen Itza back there, but now that you mention it it is kind of a close-angle shot and could easily be some other stepped pyramid. :crazyeye:

post some previews

I was going to, but my father wanted to use the computer (and play Civ4), I could do it from my other computer, but it is old and slow (it is about 8 years old), so I didn't want to overload it.
Anyway, here it is.
Tamerlane1.jpg

I also added the files I work with. As I see it, the main problem right now is the texturing. Another problem I noticed is that during his greeting his hands are invisible (flying palms). I also think we could make him look more "Turko-Mongol", but I don't know how.
And one last thing- I would really like him to look like the Tamerlane in this old Russian Bank "Imperial" commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kK-VEixnTM.
So, any thoughts?

Nice work :).

Who is the base?
Can't tell it from the first sight :).

I think, the helmet should be a bit more higher on his head.

I think you can tell who's the base by the background- it is Hannibal Barca, of course!

Hmmm, do you mind if I worked on this?

I was hoping you will get your hands on this. This is why I posted the files. I just want to know what you are planning to do and what do you have in mind. I hope the link to the You-Tube clip made clear what I have in mind when I think of Tamerlane. Do you think what I've done so far is something we can improve on?

Tammy could certainly look more Asian.
