An exceptionally low scoring game, with one exception: Lexad posted a number more than 400% higher than second place -- Congratulations on a truly a superior result.

Not only did afker garner the silver, he achieved the only Diplomatic victory. On the other hand, Conquistador 63 bested plenty of close competition to snatch the bronze and almost edged out godotnut for fastest Spaceship finish as well.

Note that there were 271 downloads of the game but only a paltry 25 submissions (not all victories, of course). Would seem the wheat was separated from the chaff on this one.

In testing, leif lost Professor Beffudlov's artillery unit early (when he had over 95% chance to win), and some of you shared leif's fate. :spear: Better luck in the next one.

Appreciate all who submitted -- even those who did not win or finish -- and all who shared their experience in the spoiler threads.

Hope to be overwhelmed with a tidal wave of submissions on Noble in September.

Here's where everyone settled.

The Small Print:
The numbers by each player's name indicate the turn settled on (starting turn is 0). Players are colour coded by game class (challenger=red, adventurer=blue). Symbols indicate victory condition, if there's no symbol then the player either retired or was defeated. The yellow border indicates the land that was visible at the start of the game.

I started quite late, but had an intention of submitting. But partly because of my limited timeframe I did too many mistakes, and I even lost my artillery at 99.9% odds against a Malinese Longbowman.

Congratulations to all that managed a victory :)

But I think the name of this thread should be GOTM56, not GOTM57, shouldn't it?

Damn Kublai who kept me from domination! I really wish his capital had been coastal since that would have allowed me to stop his SS launch attempt

Nice job by Lexad hitting a very early conquest on this island start for a great score!

People are on vacations, and CP can't play his own game. Thank you, CP )

It was a really interesting setting by a master player. Getting out of this island was tough if you made few mistakes, so congratulations to everyone who outrun AI.

You have to submit your losses, otherwise it doesn't make the victories as sweet.

Congrats to all that submitted. Amazing score Lexad. :goodjob:

BTW, I think I might have downloaded the save more than once, I tend to get excited and download the saves as soon as I see them, and sometimes again when I actually find time to start them.
It wouldn''t be the first time I have played a save call gotmXXcontender(2). :)

I would not worry too much, Cactus Pete. It's probably because a lot of people are on holidays. It's nice to be part of the wheat, though! ;) And I am pleased in a weird sort of way to be in the top 10, even though I lost my game (not by much).

This was a very interesting concept for a game, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with next (another Beffudlov adventure?). Plus we will all need a good dose of Civ in September while we wait for version 5 to hit the shops.

Cactus Pete - great map, thank you! :goodjob: I wonder what you may conjure up in the future...

Great score Lexad. I thought you had retired long ago from this scene

This map kept me on my toes far longer than usual for Immortal, and I'm not even done play testing yet :D

I understand it might be fuzzy now, but when we started drinking it was you who were retiring. Me still kicking, thanx, and I wasn't playing this one for score.

That's me.
Lost it at 98% victory odds and quit in disgust.
I really should learn some patience.

I feel your pain.

It is hard to have patience when you are anticipating that you are about to conquer the entire world, with one highly superior unit.

:sarcasm:

Only to have it die a meaningless death to some Neanderthal Axeman who can't even spell yet!
:shake:

Did any of you loose the artillery by moving more than one tile, and then attack over river? Keep in mind that the calculation of victory chance does not take into account of the river crossing. Always move a unit next to the defender before checking the odds. The battle event log shows the correct chance.

Cheap Charlie, I would like to say. When I buy outdated Russian artillery cheaply on the black market, I buy at least two units. :)

Expanding to the north first and making contact rather late, one unit was not enough by its own to make a decisive impact. The AI built reinforcements too fast. Should have built support units, I guess, or have that second unit!

I'm curious to see how much experience the Artillery got. In my game it got to ~50 before it died

Just posting the screenshots of the combat log, just to show how my last battle with the artillery went. Thought to do it earlier, but haven't had time.
