CS road request bugged again?

They request a road. They build down and connect to an existing road of mine (it was on the plains). I'm not getting credit. I tear the road down and build another, still no credit.

EDIT: I should probably also clarify-- I'm Hiawatha, so a lot of the "road" leading back to my capitol is forest. The bug might be that the CS only recognizes actual road and not just your trade route, which in Hiawatha's case isn't necessarily the same thing.

You have to build a physical road. Your UA lets you move through forests/jungles as if they were roads, and they can connect trade routes for you, but they aren't roads.

That's not intentional, is it? Forests really ought to be considered roads in this case, otherwise Hiawatha may need to build way more useless roads than any other civ would have to to complete this quest.

what is a road to the Iroquois is not a road to anyone else, including CSs. This is intentional. Hiawatha gets a huge benefit from being able to use forests as roads, this is just one drawback.

You think so? I don't know, it seems to me like it's an oversight. But at least it's probably not a bug.

I guess it's not a big deal either way, but I do think the CS should recognize that they're connected to your trade route.

Whatever anybody else says, it looks rather weird to me that Teotihuacan is connected to the trade network, but the city state just beyond that, with a solid road running from Teotihuacan, wouldn't be.

The road quest is still bugged in that you cannot connect via roads through another CS territory. In the following screenshot, both Hanoi and Kuala Lumpur asked for roads. I connected directly from my capitol to Hanoi and completed the quest for them. However, when I continued the road to KL I did not complete their quest since the road ran partially through Hanoi's territory. Note that in this case I was never able to complete the quest for KL since there was no way to hook up the road without going through another CS territory.

Spoiler :

That is good to know RedRover. I was wondering what the heck was going on with my failed road request.

Here is another question ... is there any reason to keep the road in existence after the quest is completed? It doesnt seem they count as trade routes in any way. I'm thinking I may as well rip it out and save the maintanence costs.
