Smurfette's Box: Releasing the Evils of Smurf

Simply put, the Smurf village was once a happy and peaceful place--until the creation of Smurfette. Paralleling Pandora from the greek myth, she was molded from the Earth and eventually releases the evils of the world; her charms and beauty "cause jealousy and competition among the Smurfs in order to cause their fall..... causing chaos among the Smurfs who competed, fighting against each other to win Smurfette's heart".

However, when Smurfette is stolen from the village, the Smurfs unite together to get back their Smurfette. Little do they know what troubles they will endure....

addendums/important notes:
-ties in lynches tallies will be determined by whoever has less HP of the tie-ees (except in scenario of 1v1, as in original rules). I.e. the mob will lynch whoever "looks" weaker.
- item vote ties will be determined by RNG, equal odds of all participants
- smurfberries transferrable anytime (and consumable) i.e. same phase. see post 199
- smurfberry harvest following pattern for each vote block; 4 for 18-23 players alive, 3 for 12-17, etc etc. day 4 onwards 3/day base smurfberry rate

(a) I have been following what I did in my previous hosted game,
ORDER OF ACTIONS
The order of actions are as followed in the night
1) healing. all healing or strength boosting or decreasing in the night happens first. This can be either ability based or item based. [this is where consumption of smurfberries also lies, since it is consumable at any time]
2) roleblocking/protecting
3) attacks. Typically the scum get to attack first. Normally ability attacks will occur before item attacks.
4) use of some items (let's say you have a scanning item; you can use it before it gets stolen from you UNLESS it was stolen by something from 1-3)
but if specified otherwise the order can change.

-whenever you use a consumable item against someone else, you only see that they consumed the item. I.e. imagine you had a non-existant green berry that you could force feed to someone at night with X effect. You only get to see that they ate the green berry.

Every day phase there is a vote for possibly some items (generally some smurfberries will be up for vote each day) and the lynch vote.

The options are to vote or abstain. No lynch is not an option.

Please bold votes. I don't really care about unvoting--tallies will be done by posting "voting is closed" and going backwards from there, entering your latest vote into a spreadsheet. So I don't care if you voted 127 times, your last vote should be entered into the spreadsheet.

Tentatively, every single vote is worth......
  • 7 HP for 18-23 players alive
  • 9 HP for 12-17 players alive
  • 12 HP for 7-11 players alive
  • 16 HP *DAY 7 UPDATE* 20 HP for 4-7 players alive, with an option to have "No contest" lynch. The unopposed lynch option is tagged on to your vote--i.e. "vote Player X; No contest. If the lynch result for X people alive is (X-1):1, then person is lynched with "no contest" i.e. automatically.

    Eg: If there is 1 scum alive and 4 people alive, I don't want a lynch result of 3-1 against the scum resulting in the scum just survivng and somehow winning the game via night actions. If everyone knows he is the last scum and the vote is everyone vs him, I think the scum should just get lynched. This is separate from any lynch-stopping abilities/items; this is purely for damage purposes. If the scum had managed to get himself voted a lynch stopping item and never used it, I think it is fair to let the scum survive.
  • 70 HP for 3 players alive. This is an automatic lynch unless someone has either a lynch stopping ability or something that is like "take 1/2 damage". Even 1/2 damage for a 2-1 vote would still be 70 HP. I think this is fair. If its 2 town vs 1 scum but the scum somehow got himself such an item and somehow got up to >70 HP, I think it's fair he can win the game even if the other 2 know 100% he is the last scum.
  • If 2 players are alive and it is a scum vs townie, the scum wins. If 2 players are alive and both are scum, whoever possesses smurfette wins. If no one possesses smurfette, I'll have to do whoever has more HP left.

If there is a tie in the vote, all people who are tied take the full damage.

I may want to tweak these numbers; but as an HP game I believe it is essential to make sure that HP still dictates the lynch at all points in the game, except for like 3 people alive. I think the numbers are fairly good:
18-23 people 10 votes does 70 damage. (7*10)
12-17 people 8 votes does 72 damage. (8*9)
7-11 people 6 votes does 72 damage. (6*12)
4-7 people 4 votes does 64 damage. (4*16)

I think those are reasonable amounts; people may just survive the lynch due to high HP, but a solid chunk of damage is always possible by the majority. People will be taking small little damages here and there, and smurf berries will also heal people here and there. It is easily possible someone starting with 30 HP can go up to 60 HP and someone starting with 80 HP can be nitpicked down to 60 HP.

Any changes to HP votes would have to be notified to the players well in advance. Namely, I won't really mess with it except for maybe the last vote could be changed from 70 HP to 60 or 50 HP.

Hearken, a woman’s shriek in the night. Of course, this meant that smurfette was in danger, and people were scared that the fears of GM Smurf earlier were true…..

Earlier, the GM Smurf Kennigit had spoken to Smurfville. “Listen all, and listen well! This is damn important!” his thunderous voice rang over the otherwise squeaky voices of the smurfs; it was quite obvious why GM Smurf was in charge.

“I’m afraid that our great town of Smurfville is in peril. There are those in the world that want to take Smurfette away from here! I think we have two options we should take in preparation for this event

(a) We accelerate the harvest of smurf berries today such that every townie smurf is granted 2 smurf berries, as well as I will put up 3 of my private items to the vote the first day (independent of regular smurf berries that will be up for the first day).
*note*: Each scum receives 2 sugar-free artificial smurfberries that look and taste just like a smurfberry, but does not give any HP benefits! (i.e. the town will not win by having everyone “show” 2 smurf berries to each other day 1).
(b) We all gather our best investigative efforts to be able to get information on what scum will be coming after Smurfville

*note* this is about the game setup, not the identity of the scum. It is not a clue to the scum in anyway shape or form, but can give information on how many scum there may be

I have selected on townie that I trust to make the decision, but we are all free to discuss it! However, I fear I personally may be in life threatening trouble tonight…….”
Note: if none of the scum get smurfette night 0, then both these options will come true for the town!


Remember: no night actions are taken night 0 except for those specified in role PMs (scum and 1 townie). The option for the townie is what is posted here. The options are also not up for vote, but feel free to discuss it.

I say b. How significant can 10 extra HP really be? On the other hand, we all know exactly how significant knowing more about the mafia will be.
 
I'd say a, because the items could be powerful, and I'm skeptical how useful the additional data would be. We find the evil smurfs, we lynch the evil smurfs, it doesn't matter how many there are.
 
b sounds slightly better than a. Are we voting for this or not? :p
