Here are the results for COTM 96 - England.

It was good to see an excellent turn-out for this game at 27 entries. And everyone posted a victory :goodjob:. The last game with more than 25 entries was 10 games and 18 months ago: COTM 86 in October 2011. Either the delayed start, or the Warlord difficulty made this one attractive. Let's hope the interest remains high going forward.

Neo666's 70 BC fastest conquest victory took the Gold Medal; templar_x came in second with a very respectable 110 AD conquest; and Lanzelot's 400 AD fastest domination took the bronze.

A special mention goes to Kuningas. His 1275 AD fastest spaceship award wins him a third Eptathlon for C3C games.

Please also join me in welcoming no less than FIVE new C3C players who joined us for this game - Acronym, Ditch, Myon, Termes, and vincentf. Let's all help them to learn some of the magical ways to achieve the results we see here.

Let the post mortems begin!

Hi AlanH, looks like the global results database is not yet updated.

Also gratulations to Pjutr, that 20K date definitely rocks.

congratulations Kuningas! absolutely stunning!

also congratulations to all the other award winners with great dates!

i knew this could be won in the bc-era, and the 90bc finish of Neo666 is just incredible. i realized where i lost some turns but simply do not have the time to play enough of the game in one piece so to play more concentrated. that is, if i were able to manage that date at all.

will you post a bit more about your game, Neo666? like where you settled and in which order you took down the AS?

You can see the game replay for Neo666's submission if you go to the Replay Utility. Select Game Type: Civ3 Conquests COTM, and Game: COTM 96, then select Player: Neo666. You can select another player to compare with. I recommend using any browser EXCEPT Internet Explorer.

Click Play to see the game replay. You can speed it up, slow it down or single step it, and use the arrow buttons to advance or reverse the replay. There are graphs and text event logs for each game, as well as the map, and you can click on any tile at any time to see who owns it. Click a City to see its ownership history.

Really interesting the comparaison tools. I'm amazed how Neo666 ant templar_x may have 14 cities when mw (and my daughter Myon have only 6). It is surely related to a poor settler factory, and probably a too loose city placement. I should restart the first turns.

Comparing with the denyd's game, it come s to my mind that I should have restrain my armies in order to avoid a domination victory and then milk the empire to finish in 2050 with happy peoples and victory points. Is that true?

The Jason scoring system was invented to avoid the need for "milking" in order to get a high score. Before the Jason system was adopted, it was necessary to hit Next Turn for most of the game to get high scores.

You will see that the Jason scores for the fast games are considerably higher than the Firaxis in-game scores. This is because the Jason score attempts to credit a fast victory with the additional points that would have been accumulated if the player had kept under the domination limit, playing to 2050 AD, maximising happiness. In fact, almost all the fast finishers scored higher than Denyd's 2050 AD victory score.

The other point to note is that many players consider fast finishes to be a greater measure of skill than high scores. Note that there are three medals (gold, silver and bronze) for high scores, but there are six trophies for fastest finishes - one per victory condition. The Global Rankings can be displayed based on speed or score, or a combined ranking weighting both performance criteria. And the Eptathlons are won by achieving one of each of the six speed awards, plus only a "cow" award (for highest Firaxis base score) as a score-based award.
