AtomicGamer, our host, is closing. We are migrating to a new server and all items uploaded here will be preserved, along with all posts and attachments. The closure date is, I understand, 31.07.15. Like me, you may have your own account there with files saved - so please take the opportunity to back them up before the end of the month, or they'll become unavailable.

Thanks for posting this, Rob, since there is nothing about it on AG and we've got 2 weeks to relocate everything.

Now's probably a good time for people to identify their favorite mods and such that may be posted there. If the original creator no longer comes to CFC, those mods may be lost if we fail to download and transfer them.

I knew this was coming sooner or later but preferred later. Any suggestions for alternatives in the future?
 
Searching for "civ3" on AG's website, I've had 50 matches and most of them are legendary Mods such as MEM, Rise and Rule, LotM, Warhammer fantasy Mod, EFZI, etc. Is there a way to know which ones are already safe (I mean uploaded somewhere else) ? Should we all download some of them just to be sure ?
 
So the new server will be run by Thunderfall's brother? That's interesting.

Hey perhaps there's some lemonade to be made here: when they reconfigure the site, perhaps they could -

* increase the size of uploads to the database, so that we can put larger (epic!) mods and scenarios in it. Hey, how about FTP capability?
*increase everyone's allowed attachments & PMs & allow attachments to PMs.
*migrate the modding Wiki to the new server, and allow access through CivFanatics.
*finally 'fix' the database (or if you prefer, improve its ease of use) by adding a new category: Modern (21st century), and divide the 20th century into three parts : early, middle, and late. That would separate the most heavily used categories (WWI & II) from each other.
*perhaps a better search protocol for the database? Sometimes three letters is all I have...

At present CivForum.de hosts the following Civ 3 mods and scenarios:

- CCM
- RARR
- EFZI Complete
- Far Horizons: Heart of Destiny
- Mystara
- AoI

Also "safe" are SOE and WW2 Global Gold (not given to the public yet as they need a rework) and the El Justo scenarios Vietnam, TCW and TCW Fifties that were included in the emergency transfer from the SOC-site by MarineCorps to CivForum.de, but didn´t receive an o.k. by El Justo for giving it to the public yet.

This week CivForum.de moved to an even bigger and faster server with all download links still working well.
 
At least we got some warning! I remember another site (CDG or something like that) which hosted some of my work which was lost forever - including the four-era version of Gladys! @Kyriakos, I've been told that everything on Civfanatics servers will be safe, though I guess it's always good to have a back-up of your work (which I learned the hard way!)

Perhaps in these days of large hard drives, it wouldn't hurt for one or two of us to be "custodians" of a selection of Civ III mods - just in case.

CDG was abandonned for a longer time, but still existing, so occupied by hackers.
The history was: CDG=>Evo=>SOC At least at SOC there was nothing more of your LH (as far as I know).

The upload size was actually increased just a few weeks ago to 20 MB from 10 MB. Granted, still much too small for epic mods, but it will allow for a few more mods to be CFC-hosted. As far as I can remember, it's the first increase since I joined in 2007. Maybe it will be increased again after the migration.
 
So, I decided to see if I could whip up a program to scan the downloads database, and make a list of all the mods that are hosted on AtomicGamer. The good news is, it's working. So far, I've got a list of everything in the Modpacks area that's hosted at atomicgamer.com, 3ddownloads.com, or telefragged.com, all of which I believe are part of AtomicGamer. The list is below:

In the fairly near future I should have lists for other parts of the downloads database as well. It's a fairly high proportion for the modpacks (23/77), but that's probably in part because a lot of them are sizeable.

I may be able to queue it up so they can be automatically downloaded as well, but I haven't looked into that yet. So far it's just identifying which files are affected.

Thanks. I set it up to run for Civ4 overnight last night, but instead of doing each top-level category manually, I had it do everything at once for Civ4. Alas, when I awoke I found it had apparently entered an infinite loop as there were duplicates. Not sure if there's a loop somewhere in the Civ4 downloads, or if it was a regular old bug; I plan to look more tonight and also try it on the smaller Civ2 section. But for Civ3, the list should be complete for items in the Downloads Database.

Edit: Civ2 search completed; no affected files found. Same for Civ1. Too tired to figure out why Civ4 looped; will set it off for Civ5 tonight.
 
MEM II both has the base download and the v1.3 build on atomicgamer.

That's correct, and brings up a good point about the list I posted - it only captures things that are in the Downloads Database, which doesn't include MEM (other than the BIQ) and probably some other noteworthy mods as well.

I made a Google Spreadsheet out of the document Thunderfall uploaded at at this URL, so we can collaboratively update it as files are re-uploaded. Hopefully this is helpful in getting the maximum number of files possible back up and working.
