GOTM 31 Results and Congratulations

We're even earlier this month (despite my personal contribution to hold it up for a day!): the results for GOTM 31 are out, and available here!

By providing a bit of extra 'incentive', DaveMcW was drawn back into competing, and he took the gold medal (as well as the cow award) for a well-milked game to 2050 AD.

Second place went to newcomer Dynamic, with a fast domination victory in 570 AD!

Kuningas continued his good run with a third-place medal for a 1295 AD Spaceship victory, completing a welcome move away from conquest / domination-dominated medal boards.

Congratulations also to Drazek on reaching the top of the global rankings. :goodjob:

I'm eagerly awaiting the Jason calculator update, so I can compare a 620AD conquest victory with 9281 points.

Brilliant job at getting the results out so quickly.

From now on I am going (in my own mind) to reduce by 25% the Jason score of any player who beats me and doesn't post. :gripe:

. The site works because of the posts, rather than the leaderboard. I seem to recall that the much-lamented qsc (which I continue to submit) imposed a penalty for games without a timeline, and eventually made them compulsory.

Please note that this post was mainly written as an excuse to use the gripe smilie which is a work of genius.

Well done all. I didn't make the deadline on this one...

...but Creepster's 20K result would have smashed mine out of sight anyway.

Oh yeah, nice work GOTM team as well. Seems the scores get published sooner and sooner.

Congrats to all winners. Some of those dates are pretty damn impressive! This is only my second GTM and the first was way back with 21 where I got 99th (I think it took about a month back then to get the scores out aswell! Top stuf on getting em out so quick this time round!!!) . I thought, ooo maybe ill get 50 or so, but lo! 16th was my position

. Looking forward to getting round to playing this months.

Interesting that I could gain so much by milking. I guess my playstyle doesn't maximize score enough.

I'm glad to see my result in top 10 and aspecially 2-nd. This is my second successful GOTM (previous was GOTM21,open) and first time predator. I'm not sure about conquests COTM (I'm not buy it yet) but I will try to play further. Congratulations to all winners! I take off my hat ahead of DaveMcW: I never play milk games but know how it is hardly. :goodjob:

Sorry! You can now. In all the changes for Conquests, I forgot to automate that bit

PS - Don't forget that as they are now .SAV files you may need to right click and select the apropriate menu option to download them to disk.

I've been reducing your score mentally by 25% for some time now.

Although from this game it looks like i'm going to have to think about reducing it by 50% to keep competitive.

Sir Bugsy: Thanks!! I saw that Kuningas beat me into the IA by two turns, and I lost a few turns during the IA, so I was hoping he'd go for Spaceship. The Diplo category was pretty competitive this month!

It's interesting to see the top 5 games went to different Victory types. After those games, it's mostly Domination and Conquest victories. Conquest was well competed, with tying fastest Conquest dates (Ronald and toyo) :eek:

Wow - I got 114/161 (30th precentile). Better than I expected, if I do have to say so myself. I played a mere 11 hours, compared to the leader's 60 hour milk-run.

Some suggestions for the summary:

1 - A percentile column in the table for rank
2 - A percentile column for rank in play time
3 - A graph showing the distribution of scores
4 - A graph showing the distibution of playing times
5 - A histogram of victory condition

I could use the posted data to generate some sample graphs if anyone is interested.

Yeah! Show me what you'd like. I've nothing much to do right now :rolleyes:

Seriously, if you do produce some samples, I'll get on it. But I suspect once we have the COTM submission process humming, the next pressure point will be automation of the Qsc stuff. So take your time, and don't expect new online graphs to appear within days.

Look at the results this way: the first thee games scored more than 11000 Jason points, the first 15 are above the 10000 mark! :wow:

Simply congratulating the winners for these results seems hardly enough, but... well, what else can I say... congratulations!

My score is in line with my average results, but competition this round was really tough. Still, I am satisfied with my game: playing for 100k this month was not easy -for the normal players of course, not certain Eptathletes...
In fact, that kind of result seems hardly achievable, no matter how hard I cheat

-I'm still learning, anyway...
