Game Version identity

To help players support there version identity in discussions, all GOTM players have access to use a version identifying logo at the begining of any message posts were game specific issues may be discussed.

These little logos can be easily inserted into any message and the followed by the patch version identifier for the software you may be currently using.

could be produced by inserting the following text at the beginning of a message post by a MAC player (replace the squiggly brackets { with square brackets [ ):

could be produced for PTW players still in the v1.14 patch (replace the squiggly brackets { with square brackets [ ):

Just something special for you to use to help identify your games and to recognize that you have participated in the GOTM games on a level that lets you recognize the differences in the software versions as well as some of the equivalency steps that we have implemented to make the Civ3 and PTW versions of the game play in a more compatible mode.

Nicely done...just as an FYI, this cannot be used in a signature...I tried then realized img was toggled off (for a good reason, if you don't believe me check out www.corvetteforum.com ) for signatures.

Lots of nice cars, that's all...

Average content of pictures per signature is about 2.2. People put their cars and more in their signatures. That is the consequence of allowing img tags in your signatures....

It would be great if that image could be added in your nickname box (beside the location & style information). What do you think?

I certainly agree with that.
Specially cause the only place I feel like I can contribute with something in civfanatics is the gotm

EDIT: oh, I forgot...

Stock Smilies work in the sigs. Can these "civ images" be added to the stock smilies list something like , , [macciv] etc??

Thanks Thunderfall. Now, how about the Conquest and Predator icons, and maybe Moonsinger's neat Open one?

Sorry Moonsinger. I thought it was you who put together the "Stop" sign Open icon that some people are using.

The inability to search on this site is really getting quite annoying - I finish up guessing things I should be able to check. And I really should get some sleep, as well

I think we should wait a bit before we consider making the icons for the three classes permanent. I applaud the the response and the resourcefulness of creating the composite image for the temporary open class logo, but I would prefer that we wait un tilthe classes develop a more identifiable group persona and then look of a simplified single graphic icon that conveys the feel that we want the Open class to have. This will take several months at least.

The Open Class IS the GOTM game that you have all come to know and love and in the long run it will deserve to be something more significant than feeling like just being NOT the other two.

I also want to thank Thunderfall for support us as well as the whole Civ3 community by making the game version identity icons so accessible in signatures and in every message and PM function.

Fairy 'nuff, Cracker. You're judgement is on target, as always.

After due pause for thought (always a good idea before posting - must try to get into the habit), the Predator icon is the best of the three, and could stand the test of time. The Conquest one is appropriate for this month, but may not fit other games so well unless treasure becomes a fixture. And the Open icon should, indeed, be a positive indicator that it is the mainstream class in the premier Civ competition.
