cracker,

In the Mac v.1.29 download the unit file is called gallgolass. This if copied over would presumabely replace the viking unit.

Can the name of the file be changed to "cataphract"?

Hurray! the saves have come!

Here goes my life for another month. Some strategy I have is to scout Downwards, there must be a much better site nearby. Cattle or wheat, it cant be far.

Cracker~~~ just to inform u that the save file for Open Class is still in .bic document(i don think anyone wanna open it to spilt the fun). Maybe u didn't save it properly?

Waiting for Open class save file.... :)

p.s. Just found out that beside predator class, conquest class save file is also in .bic.:scan:

You might want to check again assaultor. I just downloaded the open class zip and there is no .bic file in there, just a .sav file.... which is the way it should be.)

Can't test if it works though, as I am at work.

I'll probably start playing this one next week or so. I've got a great HoF attempt going and I want to have the conquest phase in that game out of the way before I start a new GOTM, just to avoid any strategy confusion in my head...
Looking forward to this one. Domination objective with a great knight-like UU on monarch level. That's my kind of game.....

Is urs Civ III v1.29 PC version?
cause i just check again....it is still in .bic
hopefully it can be fixed as soon as possible...

Darkness, i agree with Assaultor, its a bic file.

Its anoying having to reinstall the patch just to get the url.

bug1, just try to reinstall and stop at the download screen and wait for updates... u can alt-tab out to do ur other things... :)

OOPS. Sorry guys.

Assaultor edited his post while I was typing my reply, so I didn't know he was talking about Civ3. I was talking about PTW.
Sorry, my mistake...

Help needed!

Trying to download the Open Class GOTM. When I put in the URL all I get is an empty zip file - doesn't download, just displays.

I think I need a link where I can do a "save as" - that would work but reading this thread you guys obviously have successfully downloaded.

Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

thnx

If your browser is not downloading the file automatically, right click the link and select "Download to disk" or some-such in the menu.

I've posted a Mac OS X installer for the GOTM #23 files here.

I also have a full installer to mod a copy of CivIII v1.29 up to GOTM #23. It exceeds the standard file size, but as soon as I have permission I'll add that to the above post.

Since I had to at least open a GOTM #23 start file to test the installers, I can confirm that the Open file for v1.29 is a .BIC, and the Predator one is a .SAV and opens OK.

But the problem is I can't find a link - just the URL form the readme file. Is there a link anywhere? Ah - what if I do this:

http://gotm.civfanatics.net/games/saves/gotm23_ptw_open.zip

and then save as???

"That will work, alternatively you could just copy/paste the URL into the address bar in your browser."

Thats what wasn't working for me - all I got was an empty zip file.

I just noticed, we can load the bic file as a scenario and play it that way.

Kinda spoils it though being able to see all the resources/luxuries in the editor.

That gets my vote as the understatement of the year. How do you plan to play a "clean" competition game when you know where everything is?
