Alrighty Pilgrims, to celebrate theh first Thanksgiving, I have thrown together a real turkey of a map for you. I'v'e stuffed it full of special things.

You have to have all the downloaded content and the patch.

Its an arboreal (hint) standard speed emperor game, raging barbarians, extra special surprise included.

I suggest religious settlement, because we're pilgrims:p

Spoiler :
I got mine on turn 27.

Good luck, Pilgrim.

how big is the map, and do you suggest any victory condition to go for?

i havent played a single game as washington yet, so i'll try this and finally get those achievements

Its a standard size map. Manifest Destiny and all, you should probably try domination.

Are you serious about Religious Settlements? Kind of a crappy pantheon, but I'm game if it's central to your extra special surprise. :)

"My disagreement with the Iroquois has become too much to bear. This is a situation that can only be resolved on the battlefield."

Bah, quit game at Apollo program. Tied with tech, points, science with the top two civs. Would have likely pulled out a science win, but wanted domination. The issue was all the capitals left were behind mountains and surrounded by cities. It may have still been possible, but would have taken way longer than I had patience for.

I had planned on setting up additional bases just west in that bay area, but Hiawatha attacked right when I settled the cities. Lost them, and it set me back quite a bit; I was stuck in the middle until I got frigates out.

May give it another go tomorrow.

LOL at the surprising civs on this one!

I wrongly figured, America, Liberty time.

Really shoulda went Tradition as so far i'm just sitting with two cities, and spamming wonders in the cap :D

LoL, fun. I went with Religious Settlements, as Budweiser urged. Even founded a religion because, on a whim, I built the Hagia Sophia. Only established three cities so far, so I'm glad I went with Tradition. The, uh, Iriquois declared war on me around turn 130. I have the National College and a couple Universities up, but my cities have grown slowly, and my total research is only around 70 beakers per turn.

Also, I've made a couple diplomatic errors because I wasn't sure which civ I was talking to, lol. Not that big a deal, except when I sold Open Borders to the leader, whose capital is closest to mine. That's the guy who just DOWd me. :)

i went liberty as well and then actually only settled 3 cities so far, so tradition would have been the better choice. but i've just started the conquering spree (very late, around turn 230) and puppet everything in my way, driven by a healthy appetite for oil. so those production and happiness bonuses come in handy after all.

t150
I went Liberty opener, Honor, full Liberty (Hagia Sofia with Engineer to improve my religion), two in Tradition. I have 3 cities and am teching to muskets and cannons before I expand. I will kill Monaco first for some breathing room then, the rest. In the mean time I am buying tiles and selling my oragnes.

Religious Settlements
Cermonial Burial
Cathedrals
Divine Inspiration
Just War
22 Faith per turn right now.

Spoiler :
This map was so painful to play that I quit at around turn 40. I guess I just really don't like maps where you have to conquer city states just to expand. And sticking with a couple of cities, turtling and growing tall just wasn't appealing to me. This definitely is the type of map that I would re-roll after about 20 turns.

Spoiler :

I ended up at war with 2 of them at once and denounced by all the others. Fell 16 techs behind Ethiopia Hiawatha and could not attack with rifles vs infantry.

Played till t100. I am finding it a challenge, went liberty for the settlers but only settled one city just past the pass to Ithiopia. I got tech lead but my war against Ithiopia has ground to a halt as he has Mohawks and I got CBs. Took peace for some cash. Will wait for crossbows and try again. Real Hiawatha is score leader and city spamming. He has lots of units near me, another reason for taking the peace deal.

Real Hiawa. was sending three settlers unescorted past me, and it was too much. I took one, barb navy mauled 2nd and I got him eventually too, and my CS allies got the 3rd. Then the problems started, I was hoping he will go for new York, worried he might go for my cap and he went after Lhasa. I was allied with every CS around him, but he didn't bother any other ones.

At this point I had SM to support my CBs but could not help Lhasa being taken over. Eventually liberated it and took his southern city and capital. Building ridiculously long roads to connect this sprawling proto-empire. Moved my troops to Ithiopian border and will Dow soon. Building a 4 galleas navy in cap to be upgraded to frigates and take on I-Maya. He is friendly but on the way so he is next. Then Sweden and after than I have no plan yet. Was hoping for more coastal caps :(
