You should have a look to see if the stop-gap monoplane fighters with open cockpit could be made. P-26 Peashooter and Mitsubishi A5M, both could be useful between these very nice biplanes and "normal" WW2 fighters and are sadly missing.

A5M was definitely made by Wyrmshadow and probably by TopGun. There are more 1920-1930's planes that were not made into Civ3 units though...
