I think that Dalgo's first attempt at Deity deserves a spot. I have re-read his attempt many times. It is entertaining, well written, and educational to players looking to make a leap up to the next echelon.

I've been reading through the many of the games in the original post in the last few weeks, and it's THE BEST THING ON THE INTERNET.

How can an account of a computer game that was played - in many cases - over a decade ago be so compelling? Just brilliant stuff, reliving the adventures of Arathorn and Bam Bam and Moonsinger and SirPleb and Sirian and all the other great contributors from the heyday of Civ 3.
