OOC: This story is entirely controlled by the readers. You will make decisions as they arise that will change the fate of the nation. I will be using Civilization 4, with several new civs that were given to me by Kochman. All posts are appreciated and your oppinion will not be criticized. BTW, please post your decisions here.

Also, I will be using Rome Total War, Medieval II Total War, and Empire Total war to play major battles.

*- Stats show you how likely the leader is to do something that pertains to that certain stat.

To whet your appetites, here is a prologue:

Prologue- The White Stag

"So ends the bloody business of the day."- Homer

Our creation is a mystery, it was shrouded in darkness. We only know that we are not like other creatures. We are more intelligent, ambitous, and we have an aura about us that makes other beasts kneel before us. But, our story begins in another place...

We were nomads, moving from place to place in search of food and water. But one day two of the tribes met one another. They were paranoid, thinking the other was against them. So they went up in arms, ready to slaughter the other. That day was known as the First Day.

It was on that day that we fought for our future. We realized this after a godsend ran between us on the field of battle. It was a white stag.

Good luck

My Lord...

"Mark where his carnage and his conquests cease!
He makes a solitude, and calls it — peace"- Tacitus

The battle was a blur to those in combat. Weapons varied from clubs to spears, but never-the-less, it was a bloodbath at best. On the one side were the Lokars, a powerful tribe but very disorganized. On the other were the Venetians, united and strong willed, and they employed what can be called tactics.

The leader of the Venetians, Enrico Dandolo, lead the charge on the Lokarian flanks, shocking them and causing a rout en mass. But the Lokarians pushed forward into the heart of the Venetian camps. Enrico thought quickly and surrounded them, forcing them onto the defence. They formed a layered circle with their commander in the center, shouting orders. His name was Schiltron, and he led his forces in a magnificent dance of stab, block, stab. Enrico pulled back, but kept them surrounded, and he tried to devise a way to break his formation. He first attempted to break them with a single, frontal assault. But the Lokarians held, refusing to break their formation. Enrico was distraught, how could he destroy them? Then, an idea hit him like spear. He ordered his men to circle them and take shifts on and off. The plan was to starve them.

It only took a single day, as the dead of winter crept in, the Lokarians surrendered. Enrico was appointed leader an desided to settle here and build an Empire that would stand the test of time.

Alright, here is the next update of At the Gates!

The Venetian Sea

"The end will show the whole truth."- William the Silent

Enrico was in his hut when he awoke in a cold sweat. He looked to his side for his wife, before recalling that his wife had died years ago. He had had the strangest dream, yet, it seemed so real. He was in a line of twelve men and women, whose faces he did not know, and they were asked one at a time if they wanted Immortality, or not. When it came Enrico's time, everyone had said Immortality but Enrico was not idiot, he knew this was a test, if he said no, he would receive a gift for not being selfish. The leader also thought of his children, and what a horrible thing it would be to out live them. That was he did, and the voice awarded him, with the promise that his descendants would be given the prosperity of a thousand kings, whatever a king was.

It was on that day that Enrico led a scouting party to find a source of water. He was at the head of the party, armed with a spear. They continued down the hill and through the forest. The forest itself was quiet, only every so often would a squirrel scamper across a limb. Enrico's son Marco was also in the party. He was in fact the first to shout, "WATER!" And it was a great mass of it, as far as the eye could see. The party ran to the beach and began to celebrate, knowing that the sea was key to their survival as they knew how to change salt water to drinking water. It was then that Enrico proclaimed, " This shall be called the Venetian Sea!"
