Voted Theodora, but not so sure. She, Isabella, Dido and Catherine are all good picks - at least judging by how they're presented in this game, my pretty rating is:

1. Theodora - mmm nice
2. Isabella - fiddle diddle fiddle diddle
3. Dido - I may not be a "Muslim Yeti" as she calls me when she loses, mostly because I'm an atheist, but she's okay. Annoying to play against.
4. Cathy -she's okay and nice, but there's something off about her...
5. Wu Zetian - okay.
5. Boudicca - she just has nice boudy, but nothing extraordinairy.-
7. Elizabeth - epic hair. Shrill, annoyance-bringing voice. Okay face.
8. Maria I - meh. Kinda pale and slightly creepy. She's a very nice leader to cooperate with though, but her need to irrationally expand late in the game can be annoying.

I don't like how in-game Catherine II speaks. Her intonation sounds off in a way. Her in-game model looks nice, though.
Anyway, real life Catherine might not have been as attractive, though she's reputed to have had an insatiable lust.

Yeah, there are many exaggerated stories about her. My guess is that a female, modernizing monarch in a conservative, male-dominated society was a magnet to all kinds of rowdy stories, whether just jocular or actual attempt at spoiling her reputation. As far as I've understood the amount of lovers she had wasn't unusual for a monarch of Russia.

I suffer somewhat (well, not suffer, I love it) from 'yellow fever', so Wu has always caught my eye, but she is a bit too cold. Theo, well, she is a beauty, but far to haughty for me. I guess my crush on Catherine that started when I first met her prevails.

Having said that, Boudicca is catching my eye too. The way she aggressively plays with that sword, though, it's a bit nerve-wracking. I've never been comfortable with women who like sharp knives!

I think you are right. She was a 'real' woman in a man's world, doing what men did anyway. For that she was labelled a hussy. The same is true in most societies today, sadly.
