Got the achievement near 2030 in Prince, Continents, Standard speed (everything default). Yes, it took a long time - I screwed in some aspects, fell behind in the tech race and could't get the Cristo Redentor. Also, I think I got a poor location (the resources I got in my territory through the entire game were Sugar, Spices, Iron and Oil - in really small amounts) with I cultural CS near (which I managed to ally during all the game).
The good thing about the location was that, despite having 2 other civs on the same continent, I was "isolated" by a medium sized desert by north and the mentioned CS by south. Near 1920 France declared war on me - I managed to get two other civs to declare on them (Siam - who had destroyed Japan earlier - and Persia) and repelled the invasion until a peace treaty in which I gave them my third city, who was really poor in culture production. That way I reduced SP costs (I was saving a lot of culture, getting only the most essential ones - four or five I think). Them I managed to complete the five SP and started building the Utopia project. I was saving 3 GP to start Golden Ages and speed up Utopia, that was essential as I'm pretty sure Siam would declare war on me really soon (they were demanding gifts almost every turn and insistently asking for open borders). When Utopia was 10 turns from completion I founded a third city again, just for the achievement.
So, in summary, I was really behind in technology and army (had only 4 unities at end game), but accumulating the culture points, saving great persons for GA and giving away a city to lower SP costs were key movements. My capital was generating 180 culture points by the end (the other city had ~100) - I think it could be better, but my starting location wasn't that good.
I think I'll try again soon - haven't played Civ "seriously" since Civ II, so I made some poor choices but learned a lot.
