This isn't really a bug, more of a suggested feature. When you start a new game, the game should remember the settings from your last game, such as game speed, level, map type, etc.
Another upgrade would be to provide an easy way to recreate the map if you start a game and get a really crappy start. I started a game yesterday where I was surrounded by marshes and mountains. In order to restart I had to go back to the main menu and reselect all the same settings.
