Crashes while waiting for mod downloads

I'm not sure which end this problem is coming from, but Civ5 keeps crashing about 5 seconds after trying to download my mod subscriptions. Here's an archived copy of the crash dump; I began with a cleared cache and an empty "mods" folder.
