CTD during load

So ever since my Civ V updated to 1.0.0.17, my ability to load or start a new game is nearly zero. A majority (I would say ~99% of new games) crash during the narration of the window, it seems to crash just before the loading bar switches to say "begin now" (or whatever it says). Loading save games happens to be the same way (without the spoken text).

I didn't have a single problem starting a Civ game before, but ever since it updated to 1.0.0.17 it has been very flaky. I don't think it matters, but starting consistency is better with Russia than anyone else (may just be coincidence).

I originally thought it was changing in map size setting, but after some testing, the map size didn't affect the start anymore.

I don't think its a system problem, but here are my specs:

AMD 9550 quad core
Nvidia GTX260
2GB of RAM
Windows XP 32 bit SP3

Here is an attached save file where I cannot seem to load, does anybody else have problems loading this save file?

Confirmed. CTD when starting up a game from main menu, kinda always for me.
(also have a hard time skipping the intro, need to press enter several times?)

I have the same problem after updating Civ V, but I only have problem reloading, loading for the first time after starting up the game is fine.

ive solved my problem.. i think : as long as i watch the whole intro without trying to skip it, the game also works.....

Here is an attached save file where I cannot seem to load, does anybody else have problems loading this save file?

The save file loads for me and I can advance to the next turn. I have similar specs (dual core intel CPU, Nvidia 8600GT, Win XP SP3, 2GB RAM). I suggest that you make sure that your Nvidia drivers are current. There are reports that the Nvidia beta drivers fix some problems. If still no joy, please post your DxDiag.txt file. Thanks!
