Denmark Civilization and Scenario Pack and Explorers Map Pack due for may 3rd

Well, I'd assume they'd want to replace Seoul with another cultural CS, and Manila seems to be more maritime. Maybe Hong Kong, but that's more maritime too.

Jumping into the discussion after reading just this post: how about Prague as a cultural replacement? Surprised it wasn't in there to begin with.

It could also make the game controversial to sell in China. Same with Taipei, of course. I think the game is going to have to live with two tigers.

Rangoon, Mandalay, Kathmandu, Vientiane, Phnom Penh, Manila, Brunei, Bali, Kuala Lumpur, Timor, Thimphu, Dushanbe, Jalalabad, Kabul, Bishkek, Ashkabat, Kazan, ... and maybe some (legendary) Island (Towns) of the Pacific which I can't get to remember the names ;-)

I'd rather ask wether this is a sign that they do not intend to include Australia or Canada ;-) Is Lhasa a city state in the Chinese Version of the game btw.? And are there good European cities once left once they decide to include Sweden, Poland, Austria and Hungary? And why are the city lists still not semi-random to spice things up a little bit?

Grrr argh. Second game as Harald Bluetooth with 100 turns invested, a good-size empire, and not only is there no iron inside my territory, there's not even any iron anywhere on the map that I can see. Not even any iron I can take away from someone else, unless I conquer another civ in between us first, by which point berserkers will be outdated anyway. It's otherwise a really fun game so far, but without any iron or any hope of acquiring any, I might as well have played any other civ (except Rome, which has the same problem - worse, because without iron neither unique unit works).

I'm afraid that Australia and Canada would fall under the English-British empire Civ5-wise, unfortunately (it seems you have to kick London's butt a little to get featured, vide the presence of the Americans in-game) ;-)

Jokes aside, I think there are plenty of European cities to replace the ones that symbolize the Central European countries. Warsaw and Vienna (cultured) could be replaced by Prague, San Marino, Luxembourg, Vilnius, Vaduz/Lichtenstein; Stockholm (maritime) by Riga, Reval/Tallinn, Lisbon, Klaipeda; Budapest (militaristic) by Saraievo, maybe Zagreb or Sofia. Plenty of opportunities!

did u scout the seas? i did once a game where i had to build my 4th city 8 tiles over the sea to aquire my first iron, but atleast your settlers are faster on water then normal ones.

What about trading for iron?

What about trading for iron?

Askia had 2 iron, that was it of the civs I'd contacted so far. It was a continents plus map, so most of the city-states were off on islands & I hadn't contacted them yet.

But I started a new game, got iron with the great library, and had 2 iron near my capital and another 6 where I could settle a new city & grab it. Irritated both Rome and America, but I'm going to conquer them anyway. After mining the iron & getting steel, I built a bunch of berserkers plus some catapults & conquered Rome. Have not used the embarking or pillaging abilities yet, since Rome was overland & I was planning to puppet so I didn't want to tear everything up. America will be a more interesting challenge, he's got a lot of spearmen (Rome had warriors, archers, and 1 chariot archer).

Vikings are lots of fun. :p

The Songhai were blind-sided by my attack, and Gao fell in two turns without the need for siege. Now, admittedly Askia was not doing so well (mainly because he wasn't improving his tiles) but I think this shows what you can do with Beserkers and the Danes UA. I essentially took 4 embarked Beserkers up the coast escorted by Triremes and was able to drop behind the city and surround it instead of having to tackle rough terrain for a direct assault by land. I did have my 2 Crossbowman take the land route escorted by a Pikeman, but they turned out to be unnecessary. :)

A quality DLC in my opinion and well worth the price. ;)

At first, I was slightly irked about the lack of Longship as their UU ... But, I read their UA and realize that they instead made embarkation their Longship, which I like, since they were typically troop transports.

My biggest hope, however, is unique art for embarked units while playing the Danes -- as longships prior to the Renaissance at least!

I think that they should be able to defend themselves when embarked like the songhai get.

Agreed, Carl, it makes no sense that the Norsemen would just drop down and die if a ship attacked their longships.

Alternatively the Berserker unit could get the same bonus a Conquistator get, so it could defend itself while embarked.
However adding that may overpower the Danes.
