Fox-05: The RNGod Strikes Back

I won't even attempt to compete for a slot (especially since I'm in the RotQM reprise), but you have another lurker to blatantly ignore. ;)

Ok, Rex's time is up. According to the Deviant Minds' RPG thread, he is apparently in the unfortunate state of shifting his furniture around in an attempt to lose some of his 208lbs of stupidity ... a futile attempt, I must add, ....

So Berserks01 is on the roster. I will start this tonight (abt 12 more hrs). I have also accepted ChrTh suggestion on gifting away a tech or great person into the tribal's punishment. Everything is on post 1. Keep it handy ;)

Here we go ... may the RNGod be with us! :worship:

Spock's Voice: In the beginning, there was nothing. Then a big dice appeared, and start spinning, spinning, spinning, until it turns into a world.

"Here is where you start, Minions! And since you betrayed me once, I am going to change you into a fat old man!"

And fat old man we became.

We start close to the coast, and as the followers of his randomness, we got a hut nearby.

Too near, in fact. Settling in place would burst the hut. I rather do that with the scout. So, I moved one tile west and settled Berlin on the spices. We are one spicy, hot, old man.

The hut yield a few gold ...

and this must be one of the fastest meeting of the mind -- at turn 5!

Well, it appears he wasn't quite that far away. RNGod must have some grand scheme planned.

I went for fishing first to enable us working on the clams, giving us a research boost. After Fishing, I headed straight for Mysticism and Polytheism. (Mediation is a tad too risky).

Meanwhile, by some random luck, our scout hit upon a hut just outside Mansa's city. Heh, free experience.

We continued to meet all sort of crazy people:

Hmmm ... somehow I have the feeling this is a Terra map. Way too many Civs crowded in one landmass for it to be a continents map.

I played until we fulfill the first objective. Surprisingly, Buddhism is not founded yet.

I stopped here. The next player should roll for 2 objectives: one for the tribal, one for personal. Personal must be completed in your turnset (20), tribal must be completed in 15+(1d6)x5 turns.

Tribal Objectives Completed Thus Far
- Acquire a religion started:4000BC, completed: 3010BC, 33 Turns

Okay, first off, you bastard, I'm not AWOL. I spent last week moving. So phfffbbbtttt! Second, it looks like you filled up without me, so I'll just have to make rude comments all overy your game. Jerk!

lurker's comment:
So did you roll that objective or just make it up?

Dag, I was hoping to see a Warlords Civ or 2, what's up with all the Vanillas?

lurking

veeeerrrrrry interesting. Hopefully you guys are using that old fuzzy dice from the 60's. Bounces better.

Shame! Shame!

No Random Personalities

lurking

@Rex: You want in? As I said, I hate to lose you, so I think we can do 7 players.

@ChrTh: You mean the first one? As said very specifically in the first post: Our first objective is to acquire a religion. There is no time limit. As soon as we acquire a religion, than the praying to RNGod starts (i.e. rolling of dices starts).

@Atlas: Actually, Random Personality is ON. My screen just wasn't big enough to show all the options, and Random Personality happen to be one or two options below the shown options. EDIT: Hmm ... looking at the screen again, Random Personality is in fact OFF! :hammer2: Hmm ... I remember clicking on an option that needed scrolling down ...

@vra: I did nothing! Shuffle is suppose to mean random. I suppose there should be a random option for all of the map setting (sea level, resource distribution, etc) but alas no, and I am not too keen to roll a dice on every one of them.

Hey Rex, I'd hate to take this away from anyone since it looks like it could be insanely enjoyable :D, so if you're game you can have your spot back. But if you prefer to lurk, I'd be happy to fill your spot.

Roll up! Roll up! Welcome to the greatest show this world has seen since ... uh, well the last one I suppose.

First, let me start by saying this, I'm screwed

Most of the possible dice rolls are pretty much impossible at this stage of the game. Golden Age, good luck with that. Warrior rush cities from 3 civs. Culturally flip a city, yep sure. I'm secretly hoping for learn two techs no-one knows, as without alphabet there's no way of knowing :mischief:

Anyway of to Mr McConkey's magic dice roller (actually Fox the address is this) and what do we have

  Mummy, what is the man and lady doing...

What does this mean for the worshippers of the RNG god, how sorely is he going to test his somewhat faithful minions...

Let me see, doggie times dining room gives 30

30 2/36 Learn 2 tech no one knows

And again

I might leave this for the moment to see what Fox wants me to do with this.

... (actually Fox the address is this) ...
They are the same ... (you don't need the "index.html" if the filename is, well, "index.html").

Hmmm ... curious that you should roll what you "secretly hope for" ... ;)

Well, as you put it, there is no guarantee way to know if a tech is something no one know without alphabet, so I guess as long as it is not a tech we know for sure that someone else know, it will be considered as a tech no one knows.

Example of techs we know for sure someone already knew are eg, if Buddhism is FIADL, someone must know Mediation. or if XXX revolts to slavery, then XXX must have known BW, or if you see an archer, then someone must have known archery).

--

You need roll 2 more dice. 1d6 to determine the time limit for this tribal objective, and another 1d6 to determine your personal objective to be completed by end of your turnset (20, for your first round).

I clicked on the original link and it didn't work.

OK sounds fine

Yep, was waiting to see if I had to re-roll the first one.

OK we're now set again. Time to keep rollin' them bones.

How many turns do we have?

Hmm, 30 (3X5 +15) turns to research 2 techs no-one has, not too bad. Unfortunately, we're in Anarchy so 29 turns really. We have 627 turns left, so it must be dome by 597 turns left.

Personal objective time

3 again

3 Learn a tech

:woohoo: eh I mean :worship:

All hail the RNG for thou art merciful to thy followers

OK, now I can actually play this...

We come out of anarchy, Bronze Working is selected for 18 turns but we can't risk this. No-one is in slavery yet but I'm sure they will start soon. Instead we go Animal Husbandry and hope chariots don't appear in 16 (Priesthood is 10 which should be the second tech). I almost selected The Wheel but realised at the last moment that some AI probably have it already (Louis)

Berlin creates work boat, nothing for a worker to do, so warrior selected. Some defense is always handy ;)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH  :aargh: :run:

Mad switch to Masonry in 10 (Priesthood will take 9) and we have 19 of our turns left, so we may still be safe.

Warrior completes but we still don't (and won't) have anything for a worker to do so a settler seems in order.

With 4 turns left in my set (and Masonry in 5) I remember that I have to research a tech as well, was too caught up in the 2 techs in 30 turns thing.

Mmmm, that's some good weed that is :smoke:

This call for some sweet city management.

I do it just.

Priesthood still seems the logical other choice. Meditation is still an option if we have balls of steel. Louis has BW.

I put the MM of Berlin back as well.

Man I sucked at this...

Well done, beard puller! Just nice to clear yourself of danger, eh? Worker tech is almost a sure goner, though ;)
