After seeing this same basic idea in some historical scenarios and modpacks, I thought it might be good to make the "free starting techs for every civ" rule into a standalone mod. I'd permit only ONE bonus technology to each civilization; that one could come ONLY from the Ancient list, but it would reflect something that particular culture had developed (or excelled in) in the real world. For instance--
My aim is to give the Ancient Era a little cultural flavor, and make the early game easier without turning any one civ into an unstoppable powerhouse. Any suggestions for the civs I didn't list...or corrections for the ones I did? Please post them here!
- Aztec, Maya: Calendar for both.
- Babylon, China, Egypt, Greece: Construction, Writing, or Mathematics would look good for all four; which would you choose for each?
- Celts, Iroquois: Trapping for both.
- Denmark, Polynesia: Sailing for both.
- England: Archery.
- Inca: Masonry or Construction.
- Rome: Writing.
