AND??? ...

Oh please, you call strategies like "Xin Yu's Size Five Strategy" useful? lol Horrible strategies like that litter your GL with refuse. It's a joke, plain and simple. Perhaps the worst strategy on there is the ICS strategy. It was written by beginners!!! 98% of that stuff on there was written by beginners, and poorly written at that.

You are similar to me, Eyes: I like to look stupid too (you know, my nickname etc.).

I believe you mislead many people: they must think you are a stupid loudmouth

Slowthinker, that was a horrible attack. You're going to have to do better than that if you want to make me look like a fool.

Here's a thought. Maybe, instead of just complaining about various strategies being hopelessly flawed and amateurish , certain persons could contribute to these forums by posting what strategies do work so well for them.

Then we could take our superior knowlege and help out those poor "beginners" who have put together the GL and all of us will be that much better off for it!

Some people have such diseased, needy egos that they have to run down anything anyone else contributes. I've looked at the AGL and found it good.

I agree... it is easy to insult and criticize, quite another to build and construct. SlowThinker, Thunderfall, Smash, and others referred me to the Apolyton GL, and it does indeed have very usefuland informative information. Somehow, I suspect even players such as EyesOfNight read or learned some strategy from the work of others along the way. Perhaps EyesOfNight would care to write (or even re-write) areas he feels expert in.

Reading between the lines, it seems there is a sort of (good natured?) "history" between Apolyton and Civ Fanatics? Some seem to imply its a one-or-the-other deal, too. Seems silly if impressions are true.

The Apolyton site is very very slow in displaying web pages... makes it inferior for 'normal' surfing speed.

Thanks, SlowThinker. And a little while ago, Thunderfall and Smash referred me to a link that I ultimately found your DOS program for looking at tech advances. As a programmer myself (not a primary job, though), nice work!

I'll do as you requested concerning the Pollution thread (in which you referred me to this thread, SlowThinker), maybe sometime this weekend.

I can immagine that one can like 1 forum over the other, but to state there is a competition is complete ignorance. These forums both serve the same goal: to discuss civ2. In addition i read them both, and find them both good. For speed fanatics is better, for technical information about the game, apolyton is no doubt better.

I think the 2 forums add on eachother nicely.
About the topic: i like the great library a lot, i read a lot of new stuff. I had never immagined there is still so much to be learned. Especially the settler/ engeneer part is very good, because it tells there is a specials pattern besides the hut pattern. I just found out that they are actually 1 pattern. Specials are directly related to huts.

In addition i develloped a method where i can locate all huts and specials on the map, with the prerequest of only finding 1 hut and 1 special.

BTW, thanks to Woke23 for suggesting the Apolyton links, too. Yes, I've been very impressed with both the quantity and quality of insights into the game by a large number of people. The combination of Civ Fanatics and Apolyton equals more information than I've even yet had time to read. Both sites have help clear up some misconceptions and faulty assumptions I've personally had, like about how the choice of available tech is made, and of course, the "Oedo years"!!

Thanks to all who both develop such new information in the GL and the War Academy (as well as the daily threads), and to those who organize & moderate it & help make it available/known for others.

I will say that Apolyton has useful information but I simply prefer the way that civfanatics is organizaed.

Now for more useless babel

I say we use the Apolyton for the fools they are, take their useful information and throw them out with last weeks garbage. I mean where are all the fanatical fanatics??

civfanatics forever!!!!

The information in the apolyton great library is very usefull. I read and use a lot of it. It doesnt mean i am adding my knowledge to the public by giving it to apolyton. "Our secrets are our own, your people are not ready for such knowledge"

There is the "light style" option for Apolyton. It should be quicker.
But I don't know if you can turn it off if you are not registered. Registered users may choose "Style Set" under "Edit Options".

That seems to be the popular opinion.

Very impressive, EoN... consecutive two-syllable words in one relativly civil (albeit short) sentence. There may be hope for you yet, if the nice folks here at CFC are willing to continue helping you, and instructing you in the great game of Civilization!

You may even have potential in a few years. To be a decent person, that is. A long shot, I know, I know. But every person has a spark of potential, however well hidden it may be.
