A few people seem interested in the idea so it makes sense to start a separate thread.
Ideally I would like some sort of AAR element as the mp game is likely to move quite slowly as there will only be certain times each week when everyone is free and HOI II is not a short game. I don't have a specific number of human players in mind although I guess somewhere betwen 3 and 6 would be a good target.
The two options really are playing a historical game in vanilla HOI II or one of the mods where we can't declare war except for the historical events. It'll probably make any AARs associated with the game however it could be difficult to split the number of human players fairly.
The second option would be to use the Armageddon mod and play the Abyss scenario where the world is split in to similar sized nations (that have a back story) which should leave to a more balanced game although it might not be the best option if several people who are interested don't have the extra expansion. Currently this scenario is my preference as it would not be fun to play the 1936 scenario as a nation that doesn't join the war in 1939.
Here are the main nations in the Abyss scenario:
Stalinists:
European Soviets (UK, Lowlands, Denmark)
Roma (Italy and Yugoslavia)
PRRS (Japan)
Market Liberal:
Bourbon (France and Iberia)
Sweden (Scandanavia)
Social Liberal
USA
Republic of China
National Socialist:
Prussia (Most of Germany and Poland)
Russia
Confederates
(Plus a number of other nations (Ottomans (National Socialist, Cossacks (Social Liberal) and a couple of others)
