How soon do you plan victory type?

it's always one of 3 VCs since i never go for diplo or time vics. i usually decide ahead of time as i pick the civ and never play 'random civ' setting. at some point i will try a random civ start but that will be when ive gotten tired of the ones i like right now.

In Multiplayer I always go Domination or Diplomatic. (Rarely Science since it takes much longer)

If you play a gold game and make sure you keep other civs alive you can buy and selectively liberate City States/Caps. Also once you have The required votes (or +1) make sure your enemies can't buy any of your city states and/or declare instant war on all with cash and hold off for 10 turns for victory.

This approach requires a mix of Attacking other Players, Wonders, and Somewhat turtling once a civ or 2 or 3 is conquered.
