How to get Civ4:BTS working on OS X Yosemite

Looks like the link to the 3.19 patch isn't available anymore. Pretty sure I've kept the patch somewhere, when I get home in a few hours I'll check and upload it for you.

Damn. You may have to contact Aspyr for help. Unfortunately, they don't seem to support the disc versions anymore, just the Steam version. Can but try. I've sent you a PM as well

I'm not sure to be in the right thread but ... Is there still modding tools ( such as nifskope ) working on new OS systems such as El Capitan and/or Sierra ?
 
Hi there, thanks so much for this guide - it worked a dream on my macbook pro last time.

This time however, I'm on a new macbook, and I'm having trouble modifying the files inside <My Drive>/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/. I can't remove the old 2.3 and 2.5 alias folders - I get a notice saying: “2.5”/"2.3" can’t be modified or deleted because it’s required by OS X."

I also just get a stern 'stop' traffic sign when I try to copy over the new versions from the download.

I tried unlocking the folder, but it hasn't helped.

Any help MUCH appreciated. I can't afford Civ 6 and anyway I prefer marching round the world like it's 2005. Not sure I can cope without my favourite comfort game.
 
I guess you are running the latest OS version, which has a newer, tighter security system called System Integrity Protection. You need to disable that temporarily in order to modify the system files. Instructions are in the sister thread for Sierra and El Capitan.
