how to mod turns per year

ive tried making changes in the game speeds xml file in the game info folder but the turns per year doesn't change when <GameSpeedType>GAMESPEED_MARATHON</GameSpeedType>
<MonthIncrement>180</MonthIncrement>
<TurnsPerIncrement>100</TurnsPerIncrement>

this is the default value which is 15 years per turn.

I changed the monthincrement to 48 which should be 4 turns per year right but it still defaults to 15 years per turn when I load a single game.

any ideas?

If you're editing the files directly make sure you're changing the correct ones for the game you're playing

Vanilla - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\assets\Gameplay\XML
G&K - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\assets\DLC\Expansion\Gameplay\XML
BNW - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\assets\DLC\Expansion2\Gameplay\XML
