  • Please search first. If someone else has reported the bug you have found already, then please post in that thread instead of creating a new one.
  • Posting a thread:
    1. Thread title:
      • Use a title which describes the bug, rather than something general like 'Bug Found' or 'Help Please', which provide no indication of the issue encountered.
      • If you are able to reproduce the bug after reloading a save, add '(reproducible)' to the end of the thread title.
    2. Content of your post:
      • Include the version number of the build you are playing. This can be found on the main menu screen, beneath the menu.
      • Thoroughly describe the bug. If you played the turn in a certain order and it caused a crash, try to note what exactly you did. A lot of times this isn't important, but for the few times it is having the exact order can be critical to reproducing an issue. The more info you can provide, the easier it will be to diagnose the bug.
      • Include screenshots if possible. In many cases, screenshots will be the best way of illustrating the bug, or pointing out where exactly a problem is.
      • If the bug is graphical or involves the game crashing, include your dxdiag. Hit the "Windows key" + "R", type in dxdiag, hit enter. A menu will appear, with a save option at the bottom right. Select this, save it as a file and either attach it or its contents (it will be a text file). This enables us to see what system and drivers you have.
      • If you experienced a crash, attach the crash dump file. The default location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth and the file will be a .mdmp file.
    3. Include saves:
      • A save file demonstrating the bug is crucial to diagnosing the problem. Without a save, the developers only have your description to work from.
      • Attach the save from immediately before a problem manifests. If the bug occurs during the AI turn, a save from the end of your turn is ideal. If the bug occurs during your own turn, a save from immediately before the action triggering the bug is ideal.
      • If you have a save from a number of turns before a bug reveals itself, generating a closer save when checking to see if the problem is reproducible is immensely helpful, as it means the developers don't have to play through several turns with multiple specific moves in order to find the bug. Depending on the type of problem, saves from further back may also be necessary.
      • The default save location is C:\Users\Name\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth\Saves
