If you wanted to cut down on units @ end game

What would you do?

It seems in BTS there are in general more units. It seems the further along you go in the game, the worse it gets.

If you wanted to cut down on the number of units that are built throughout the game, what would you do?

It seems to me, you could increase the cost of the units or increase unit maintenance cost.

Is either better? Is there any other reasonable ways to do this?

You can change the unit instance modifier for each unit. (To mod every unit will take some time... you have to go through each unit in the XML.)

The instance modifier increases the unit cost for every unit that you have built by a specified percentage... thus, the larger your army becomes, the more it costs to build units.
