A module that adds Lithuania to your game.

Known Issues and Stuff:

I'm not satisfied with Mindaugas. His outfit isn't right, but I couldn't think of what else to do, so whatever.

A voivodeship is not actually a building. Its an administrative division. I am aware of this, but it was a cool idea with a cool bonus.

~~If you know anything about Lithuania, the city list will probably make you want to cry. I know next to nothing about Lithuania, so I just chose cities that sounded important.~~(City list now improved, thanks to IgorS)

If you aren't happy with Mindaugas, just use my Mindaugas (that I made a long time ago by the way, so you should have seen it). There is a link to my LH gallery in my signature.

I really like Mindaugus! The only thing I have to complain about him, is that his hands' coloring looks too pale compared to his face... and they seem a bit too large... But still, good job! :goodjob:

Huh. Never noticed him.

I actually kind of like mine, but it doesn't seem to be a good fit for Mindaugas.

On the other hand, I do like my Vytautas. I should note that the armor is from Deliverator's Conquistadors pack.

The city list is awful indeed! Here's a better city list. I don't know much about Lithuania myself, but I feel I know more than you do. I do know names of cities in Lithuania. Here is a list I made- the first five cities are the five most important ones, the rest are listd in historical, then population order.

. After Vilnius, I mostly chose names that sounded cool from wikipedia's list of cities in the Grand Duchy.

I've updated the DL with IgorS' city list.

As for Vytautas, I will likely release him seperately- soon. I'm still working on a couple modules. After those are released, I'll make a LH gallery and put him there.

Bajorai is slavic word bojar (kind of noblemen), it should be changed to shliachta (much more common). However, voivodeship is OK, it is also slavic (it should be so). List of cities is awful, by all means. You should differ Lithuania and Medieval Lithuania.

as soon as i select lithuania from the list it crashes, unless i do it through custom game where there is no picture of leaders etc. then in game leader portraits missing still. any help would be much appreciated.

You probably placed it in the wrong location.

It should be in:
~~Mods/MODNAME/Assets/CustomCivilizations~~I fail so hard.
Mods/MODNAME/Assets/Modules/CustomCivilizations/

And then the Lithuania folder in the download should be there.

Where MODNAME is whatever mod you are playing. If you aren't playing a mod, just make a new folder in the Mods/ directory (it can be named whatever), then make a directory like the above.

i have put it in the right folder because i have tried other created civilizations and they work fine, plus if it was in the wrong folder it wouldnt even show up as a pickable faction. Its the graphical assets that seem to crash my game.

i have it in Mods/MODNAME/Assets/CustomCivilizations/Lithuania and have changed the ini file from 0 to 1 on modular loading thing, anyhow like i said, other civilizations i downloaded work fine so i am confused, is there any files i need to modify etc afterwards?

and i will also need to figure out how to change the language so they DONT talk russian.... would rather they talk Mayan or Chinese...

it is difficult to choose one of the default languages for this baltic language, but mayan or chinese - NO. Maybe a native speaker should choose...

question: is the mouth of mindaugas repaired in the meantime?

i said mayan or chinese because i would rather have anything but russian, point of this mod i would think is so that lithuanians (like me) can enjoy a game more by having a sense of national identity in the game and chosing our own country to play with, but to run the mod and hear the units talk in russian defeats this purpose because they tried ever so hard to make sure lithuanian language is extinct and just further reinforces the whole "omg u dont speak russian in lithuania and u actualy have your own language?!". I would rather units talk any language that is not well known to many people, like mayan or whatever.

As for bajorai, i dont know the origins of the word whether its slavic or whatever, a lithuanian would associate it with nobility and its perfectly suitable for the special unit, and was also used in Medieval 2 total war kingdoms for Lithuania, it should definately NOT be changed to shliachta, which i as most lithuanians do not use for anything other than to refer to POLISH nobility, and i can play polish mods for that.

Back to my problem, I have the faction and the leaders show up as pickable, but whenever it comes to graphical assets i get blanks etc, is there anything i need to modify to get it to show up?

The problem is, there is no default language that really fits. And to add new voices would A) break the modularness of it (I don't think the audio files can be fully modular, but i'm not entirely sure) and B) require someone who speaks Lithuanian, and AFAIK, there is no large Lithuanian community in Los Angeles (but I could be wrong there). So I just choose the language I assumed was most similar, geographically if not linguistically.

And it's not so hard to change the language, if you really want to. Just open up the Lithuania_Civ4CivilizationInfos.xml and change these lines:

			<CivilizationActionSound>AS3D_RUSSIA_ORDER</CivilizationActionSound>

to something else.

Not planning on changing the Bajorai. I did enough research that I found out they were Lithuanian nobility, and that the Schliachta were Polish. Never played Medieval 2 TW, though.

You are both right.
From the languages in the game- Russian is the best chioce for Lithuania since Lithuanians do know Russian. I don't really know how the status of the Russian language now in Lithuania, but I'm sure most Lithuanians know it. It is, however, not the national language of Lithuania and never was. Lithuanian should be the language, and my suggestion is- if you speak Lithuanian and have a microphone record some Lithuanian order/select sounds and share them with us. If you need instructions on what to say and how to name the files just ask. If you don't have a microphone- just write what is needed to be said and maybe we can figure something out.
