[MODCOM] Air Forces Mod

Well, if its a little too time consuming, I would be happy to merge the mods in question. Just give me links to the mods you want merged, and I will be happy to do it for you.

Is there a thread detailing how to merge two or more mods together?

I can see how the XML and Python files the mods might have in common would need merging, but what about the CvGameCoreDLL.dll file that appears in The Lopez's mods? Is that something that has to be compiled with info from multiple mods?

Yep. To combine mods with DLLs, you need the source files and a compiler. This Thread details all you'll need to compile a new DLL.

Combining source files works much the same way as combining XML and python files. You copy and paste the bits of one into the files of the other (if they've got changed files in common), mix them in with the rest of the SDK files, and compile a new SDK.

TheLopez makes this task a pleasure, I should say. Because he indicates all of his changes very clearly, and always includes the source files.

I'm actually finding it easier to combine DLLs than python/XML only mods, if only because the compiler makes errors very clear.

...and it looks straightforward, but daunting. I have never messed with code like this before.

Aussie_Lurker, if that offer was just for eddiebluedevil, I understand. Otherwise, if I sent you links to the mods I want merged, could you do it, please?

By all means. Throw them my way and I will see what I can do. I recently merged about 7-8 seperate mods into a single package, so anything up to this amount should be fairly easy to do ;).

Thank you!

You should find the links to the mods in question in your PM inbox.

Well this is the third mod which hasn't worked on my machine. Vanilla 1.61-gives
me a bunch of errors relating to Forbidden Palaces, 3 Gorges Dam, etc. Is the
problem that nobody updates these mods for the latest patches? Can't believe
I'm obtuse enough (tho I certainly have my moments) to not install these
correctly...

Hi TheLopez! As usual, you the MAN! I would like to ask how do I adjust the rates of promotion? I would like to have the air units get an xp point for each successful mission. Just my personal take, the speed in which an air unit gets xps is a bit slow - a land unit can easily get a few exps per turn.

So perhaps this is the rate I'm looking at: 1 xp per successful mission. 2 xp per successful intercept, or surviving an intercept. 3 xp for completing a mission resulting in the destruction of a unit, either an air intercept, or destroying a land or sea unit.

Which files do I modify to achieve something like this?

Thanx, mate!

Hmm. I'm sure I downloaded the right file ... but nothing's happening on Warlords. Can anyone help please? Yes, I am using the latest patch. Thanx!

OK, figured it out. My unzip programme created an extra directory, so Warlords kept loading default rather than Air Forces Mod. The mod works excellently! Great stuff, TheLopez!

can you add an offensive intercept mission? (so that you can send out your fighters to attack the enemy fighters)
can you make the fighters to provide escort to bombers?
what about paradrop fuction? is saw that was added in chazmod but with some errors..

Hi TheLopez

Have been happily playing with your mod. I've just discovered Composites, so was able to upgrade my Fighters and Bombers to the advanced versions. Strangely, the Exp points for each dropped. ALL were 10/whatever was the previous base, eg, 10/26, 10/37, and so on, instead of what it should be, perhaps 24/26, or 34/37. Is this a glitch? Is there a setting I failed to do? Please help. Thanx!

Solved it! It's a strange setting in Warlords that transfers only 10 Exp points when you upgrade your unit, for all units except those with a Warlord attached.

sorrry to sound like such a idiot but i find all this moding stuff very difficult.

Installation Instructions:

1) Unzip this into the "warlords_install_folder\Mods\" folder.
2) Open the CivilizationIV.ini configuration file
3) Change the Mod line to read: Mod = Mods\Air Forces Mod
4) Load the game.
5) Then play as normal.

I have followed the installation instructions upto point 2) i cannot find the file civilizationIV.ini

also when i load the mods and i look in the civilopedia i don't see "early aircrafts" only the original fighter and jet fighter with the new promotions?

thanks for anyhelp anyone can provide.

I have followed the installation instructions upto point 2) i cannot find the file civilizationIV.ini

Look in \My Documents\My Games\Warlords

You can also load Mods manually ingame under the advanced menu. But you have to relaod everytime you restart the game.
