MP Game - RewriteHistory - 18civ EARTH map historical start position

Well, if the game is almost over, I'll just put up a note to people that are interested in another game that I'll be looking to start one soon. PM me or check the thread in the multi-player main forum.

Interest seems very low anyway, lots of people are missing turns and I am very close to the finish line myself...not sure it can be stopped at this point but I guess everything is possible.

@ Classical...strange usually it is the other way around as hamachi resolves connection issues...have you upgrated to vista recently?

It has only been this game that I have issues with hamachi. I cannot connect to Ronnie, since he is slow for me and I cannot connect to him until we can work out the issues with his firewall.

classical, sorry to hear about your troubles, I've experienced smth similar at one point, totally inexplicable to me in that it just fixed itself one day
my efforts were irrelevant
if you quit, can I take your spot?
even if it's almost over, I'm quite curious to see how the world changed (I was taken out in the middle ages)

I can't quite get in either. It connects to host, starts to transmit data and then stalls and loses connection.

Does the Direct IP address work for ANYONE?

Wasn't able to connect even via hamachi for the latest turn, despite the game being up on civstats, the connection is green in hamachi and gitbliss and IanDC seem to have connected.
I tried at 12 AM and 2.30 AM GMT and I didn't have a problem connecting to another pitboss game.

I haven't changed anything in my setup, but I guess it could be anything really.

Well Ronnie is slow to me, so I cannot even try to connect, but I do think after the patch that the firewall is playing issues with the game, meaning that no one can get in. That is the best thing I can think of. I will try and get up early tomorrow so that I can be online with Ronnie and see if anything can be done about this, since it is a bi confusing how this has happened. Is it happening to any other games you are hosting? Can you just check and see if the IP has not changed and perhaps think of getting a no-ip.org address or something imilar so that you can just have that up.

If you have MSN, mine is classical_hero7@hotmail.com

I just signed up for a "no-IP" account...

Now I just need to figure out HOW to USE it!

My personal opinion, Indiansmoke, aka Gitbliss, is clearly the winner of this game. I don't believe that even if everyone on the planet turned on him immediately, he could be stopped from winning 3-4 different ways.

As such, I vote for Gitbliss as winner of the Earth recreation game!

I would like to disagree, but with Gitbliss having built 5 thrusters already for the Apollo project and a massive points and tech lead, I agree he is the winner of the Rewrite History of Earth game.

I enjoyed the game very much and I hope I have learnt a lot from it.

IanDC and Levgree also should be congratulated on a fighting performance.

It's just a shame we will not know how the Americas struggle would have worked out.

Works for me. Now I can avoid the pain of trying to get a horde of galleons full of riflemen past his fleet of Missile Cruisers in a vain attempt to stop him.

Grats Gitbliss.

Thanks guys, Ian and Levgree deserve congrats as well, the game could have gone to either of them as well.

@ Elkad I have been watching these galleons...hopeless :) Also rifles don't do very well against modern armor....

Well, supposedly there were some destroyers coming for (suicidal) escorts. And it's actually artillery and anti-tanks, slightly better than rifles. But it still would have been useless. At one point I was hoping Levgree could build an airforce and base it out of Pexicus's land to support us, but the invasion of Pex and Ronnie gave you a huge land buffer on that side.

I did what I could for people you were invading. Gave away piles of cash for upgrades, gifted a ton of airships, brokered an oil deal for Levgree (including giving away a city of my own to replace that oil, as I'm STILL nowhere near combustion (or railroads, or corporation..). Etc. All trying to slow you down. But you just had too much land. Maybe if it was just you, and not Ian's navy too, we could have slowed you down a bit more. If nothing else, your little excursion to slow down Levgree should have been a bit more difficult.
