Don't forget mine! It's Monarch-level. I'm even thinking of doing another Monarch SG if the current one goes well.

I've never been really good at conquest. But let's try it. Maybe I'll learn a thing or two.

I was thinking we could be a scintific civ. So that would be Germans, Persians, Ottamans, Babylon, Greece, or maybe even the Russians.
I think the Persians and Ottamans have the best UU off the game. And I like the industrilous trait. But andvruss has first pick.

I military civ would be good. I would also prefer an expansionist (to get pottery) so we can use Bamspeedys settler factory thing.

I dont care which civ we pick as long as its not the americans/english.

I we are gonna win by conquest, we should have a UU during the industrial age (my opinion). However, Persia has a pretty good UU, and good traits (scientific, industrious). Ottomans have the same traits, and there UU is OK. What does everyone else want?

My first thought was to go for a civ with an early UU. Say, Rome or Persia. A large stack of Legionaries or Immortals would do well for an early war.

Of course, that's very short-term thinking. A Scientific civ with a later UU would be better in the long run. Germany and Ottomans would do well in that regard.

Actually, I'd be fine with the Ottomans. I only played as them once in a Chieftain game when I was testing out all the new PTW civs, so I didn't get a good feel for their full potential. Plus, it would be nice to use an Industrious civ for once (haven't played any for a while).
Still, I wouldn't mind playing Rome either. They'd be my second choice.

Just my opinions.

The Ottomans would be pretty good to be. I'd prefer not to be America or England as the F-15 takes a long time to get (and is one of the worst UU's) and with England, I don't want a seafaring UU.

And what is the 'settler factory'?

I think it's where you have a city with good food and production that does nothing but pump out Settlers for much of the early game. Usually in a city with a Granary.

Oh... because I never do that. I usually just do warrior, warrior, worker (except capitol), settler, walls...
I was never one to build a city that is placed specially to build cities.

A settler factory is in short a city with +5 food/turn, a granary, and enough production to make 30 shields in 4 turns. The effect is one new settler every 4 turns. Also helps to have another city with barracks and 5 shields pr turn to produce spearman escorts.

Bamspeedy has a very nice article on it :)

If the game is going to be conquest, I'd like to join up. Unfortunately I can only play PTW if it's version 1.14f as I need to keep the version compatible with my multiplayer brethren.

I have no preference for CIV, though if pushed the Ottomans would be high on the list.

Andvruss: are you playing in every single SG on the internet? ;)

I have 1.21 but i dont thing it will matter...

Just go download the patch.

Ottomans have the same traits, and there UU is OK.

The stats are 8/3/3 it can still take on a rifleman in the industrial age and is a power untill someone does replacable parts.

I guess were the ottamans.
The only next thing to do is decide what opening startagy we will use. I like Babspeedy's settler factory thing. But ive gotten it to work with not making +5 food. And we dont build any spearmen. We build lots of warriors and barracks and workers (with the ottamns we can make half the workers)so once we get iron we upgrade all our warriors into swordsmen and kill the closest person to us with swordsmen. But for the upgrade we would need a lot of money. So we just trade for techs and have the tech slider at 0% and adjust the luxsery slider to stop civil disorder from breaking out in our settler factory. We should try and eliminate the other scientific civs first so we can sell the free tech and get a lot of money.

But hey its one stratagy.

Go to the chat room and type in sgvbraun for the channel.

I agree with the Warrior -> Swordsman upgrade strategy.
I guess it would be a good idea to keep research low to save up for the upgrade. But after that, we should do our own research.

What will the map be like? Personally, I like Standard Pangaea or Continents.

With contenets we could sell comunications if we are the first people to find the others so we can upgrade all are knights(if we have any) to our siphi and still have money. But with pangea it would be better becuase once we buy a tech we can sell it to other civs and get more money.
