BNW comes with the base mechanics introduced in GNK, like spies and the religion system. It also comes with Ethiopia, one of the civs from GNK. If you want the scenarios or the rest of the civs from GNK, then you need to buy it.

Just to confirm, I can have a friend buy the $12 code even though he has a Mac, correct? It's SteamPlay, so the game should work on both Mac and PC, right?
