not enough native settlements?

Does anyone else feel that there are simply not enough native settlements?
This is particularly true if you're Spanish and your whole game style is supposed to be based on destroying them.

What happened to having 10 villages per tribe like you did in the original game? Even on so-falsely-called "huge" maps, you mostly get about 3-4 villages per tribe. It completely takes the Indian element out of the game, imho.

It depends. Oftentimes at the beginning they seem to be too closely spaced on the east coast when you're trying to found settlements. Later, you wish there were more of them around to help when the King comes knocking.
